2nd Half Joke

Whats with this team and especially this coach? Sloan should let 1 reserve at a time play in these games in the middle of the game(Fes for instance) giving that player important minutes with the starters instead of waiting to the last 1 1/2 minutes and put them in when it's garbage and embarrassment time, When you have control of a game let the players that need minutes have them with first teamers, and let them see what the real speed of a game is and not in the garbage time in the last 2 minutes. A one player sub would not have hurt team chemistry tonight, but no not with Sloan.

Another Impressive Road

win. The last 5 minutes were pretty raggy but over all it was an impressive display of balance and good shooting.

MIL has a defense and also an inside defense and that will be a much harder task. OKC is very good and also hot. We will see if the Jazz are real contenders or not.

Ak Fan

Bench was huge. Easy win.

DrJazz

Would the real CJ please stand up?

What was truly a joke -- aside from the "foul" that was called on Fesenko, was Pace Mannion saying in the postgame that Fess and Gaines gave up nine points on the floor. They gave up four, and Sloan had to know that the foul on Fess was bogus. And what was Gaines' mistake? Who did he foul? What turnover did he commit? I have a sinking feeling that the "message" was more for Fesenko than it was for Gaines, and it was just a poor move not to let those guys play through it in a game that Utah still would have won.

Lol at the first poster

Are you a hall of famer coach there buddy?? No??? Really??? the way you were going on made it seem like you are. Sloan made the right decision, you dont take chances whre every win is so crucial.

CL

Good road win!

Good play from DWill, Milsap, Okur, Mathews & Korver, Booz Ok, AK OK,
CJ didn't shoot well but didn't play terrible either. His +,- was like +19. If CJ can play so that his poor games are like this one, he will be OK. I don't expect him to eliminate his inconsistent play completely or all at once but hopefully he will put in extra time shooting and become more consistent & his bad games will be fewer and fewer.
I thought Korver and Mathews played very good games tonight. If the wings players can keep having good games(CJ last night, Korver&Mathews tonight)to augment Dwill,Booz,Okur&AK, the Jazz will be tough to beat.
The next two games will be the real test of this road trip, Bucks and OK city are playing well. The Jazz need to come out with alot of energy and start the games well(not get down early or big) and they should be OK.
I know Sloan was trying to teach Yada & Fes a lesson but Fes still needs PT to develop. Hopefully Sloan will give him the PT he needs.

I love it when people tell us what Jerry should do. Something tells me he has an inkling of how to coach basketball, and likely knows more than the people "correcting" him on this board. (Please note the heavy sarcasm)

Doc

Fess and Gaines checked in when a man was on the line.......they then played 5 seconds and Gaines passed inside to Milsap posting up...Sap turned and shot and Fess bodied a man out of the way to snag the board..........it could have gone either way....then Fess was called for a foul and Gaines & Fess were benched.....no body scored on them.......they came in after a man was on the line......they left before a man went to the line......Sloan must hate FESS!

Jazz

This was a good win and I am still sticking to my guns that the Jazz will go 4-0 on this trip. But what is starting to make me very very frustrating is the Denver and Dallas just will not lose. This is ridiculous Dallas just needs to lose 2 and Denver 1 and we are tied. But WHY WILL THEY NOT LOSE?????????????????????????GOING CRAZY HERE

Jerry Bone

Wow. I think Jerry is a mad man! Why did he bench Gaines & Fesenko? Deron and Memo looked pretty good. How about Korver and Milsap?

It was not Fez or Gaines

The Jazz dropped from a 19 point lead to a 10 point lead. They turned the ball over 3 times in a row. The Sloan put the subs in for a minute. Things did not get any better so he then put the closers back in and they then got their act together (after sitting) and finished.

Between minute 2 and minute 1 it was really bad. I do not think it had anything to do with Fez or Gaines. Sloan wanted the closers to get a grip and then close.

He is getting ready for the playoffs and the closers were dorking up the close.

Yes Fes should play more. But Sloan won and the Jazz did not collapse or choke away (entirely) a 20 point lead.

Sloan won so I am not going to get on his case about who played or did not play. However, I was not happy with the last 5 minutes of the game and I am sure Sloan wanted much better play from the closers.

It was a bad pattern for the last 5 minutes. Sloan was sending a message to the closers.

Worse coaching job I've EVER seen. You take a "star" player out near end of the game & he thinks he's done..The muscle start to relax & maybe even starts icing ? Mentally you relax as well, getting ready for the shower..Then you finally bring in FES who needs many more mins. to get ready for the big boys come playoffs. For some stupid reason, you take the kid out & stick your starter back in who thought was done for the nite..GOOD WAY TO HAVE BOOZ PULL A MUSCLE OR TEAR SOMETHING..Were you trying to make one of your tuff stands ??? I always thought Greg Ostertag was the problem, but the way you handle FES, it's obvious Sloan has issues !!! RETIRE, I'd love for Jeff "Horny" do a wonderful job with young blood @ the helm & the players could better relate to JEFF......Greg Miller: forget getting sloan total wins "record" , I'm sure Utah rather have a title...

Miles

No need to complain after this one. It was a back-to-back road win. When's the last time that happened? 2- 0 on this road trip.

Korver stepped up nicely tonight.

Memo logged a ton of minutes. Hopefully it doesn't affect his play next game.

CJ didn't shoot well, but he didn't jack up 15 shots either. He is playing with more maturity.

Playing Time

Millsap and Korver are good playing together! They compliment each other and both scored great tonight! Korver not only scored good he rebounded and assisted as well. I know Sloan wants that ball to go inside, but when he has smooth outside shooters why not get a few plays to set them up big time! Korver has a great percentage going now. Korver could easily score 20 a night if he was the go to guy more often! Good game...I thought they might try to throw it in the 3rd tho! Bench players were awesome tonight! Price too!

Miles

was the guy he was talking about "getting cute" his defense on Prince was once again horrible and add that to his terrible shooting, wonder where all the CJ lovers are now

Not a Sloan fan

but I do not see anything wrong with putting Fez in for rebounding and Gaines in for one foul shot.

Sloan kept the closers in during the last 5 minutes and they kept turning the ball over. They needed to come out but there was still enough time for DET to foul (the Jazz are lousy foul shooters) and get the game close. Under those conditions (NO Offense), playing the subs for the last couple of minutes is more risk than should be taken with a game that is won. No body got hurt so it is okay.

I am glad Sloan left the closers in.

He subbed enough among his 8+ rotation players that they will not be weary against MIL.

However, MIL plays much more intense D and the Jazz will not win if they wilt like they did in the last 5 min of the DET game.

The Jazz did not handle the D pressure of the last 5 minutes at all.

The Jazz can beat up on weak defensive teams but the road ahead is much harder. These to big wins are impressive.

I hope they win the next 3 games.

Re CL

You my friend are delusional,CJ was awful on both sides of the ball.Did you really watch the game? We know you love CJ but geez you need to open your eyes,he`s awful

DAL/DEN

are both good and DAL has a weak schedule. They should be winning. If LA does not get it's act together DAL will pass them for the no. 1 seed.

DAL/DEN and LA are going to be very hard to beat in a 7 game series. I do not blame Sloan for leaving the closers in. The Jazz have to have every game. They need home advantage against DAL/DEN/LA if they can get it.

LA lost 3 in a row and then barely won on a last second shot. They are not playing well and Kobe is hogging the ball. Maybe it will continue.

DAL is playing really well since they fixed some of their weaknesses. DEN can beat LA and they know it.

This year is wide open.

The only good thing I see is that the Jazz now have an outside game (at least against weak teams). They beat LA once with an outside game.

I do not think that can beat DEN or DAL without strong outside shooting.

Korver, Mathews and CJ (overall) seem to be improving as a group and are providing the shooting that is needed to challenge.

PurplePeopleEater

Looks like the 9:45 pm poster gets it. Why don't the others?

Great game. Second time for a first quarter hot start by both the Jazz and their opponents. But the Jazz seem to be good enough to weather that kind of storm.

They'll need to do as well or better in their next two games, which will be against much better competition.

I've expected the Jazz to go 2-2 on this road trip, so it'll be icing on the cake if they win one or both of the next two.

Win both and they'll be vying for 2nd place; lose both and they'll be struggling to hold on to 4th (three other teams could be within 1 to 2 losses of the Jazz by then).
