Spirit--is this revelation.
The Spirit was we refer to it, is the Holy Ghost, a member of the Godhead who prompts those who are in tune to say or do certain things. It helps a teacher touch the hearts of those he/she teaches.
In my experience, Gods' voices are strong. They do not require, or employ, middle men (or women)...only helpers. Any man who says I speak for God is suspect. the Gods are capable of speaking for themselves and giving all necessary advice to their children. Nor do the Gods need middle anthropormophic agents like male Ghosts, be they holy or not, to do what we can do for ourselves. God and one man or woman forms a majority. But it is nice to have pleasant helpers to work alongside us, don't you think?
What marks men as men(women)is we are verbalizers. We communicate through propositional communication to each other in spoken or written form, language.
The infinite personal God who is a good God chose to communicate with his creation in a Book. Then why would it be suprising if God speaking to St Paul, in Hebrew on the Damascus road?
This certainly reeks of current issues we are seeing. The CES needs to be reformed and standards need to be imposed. We can certainly see from todays youth and primarily those falling inactive or not going on a mission that WE as a community are failing. I am glad he is putting attention to this issue but he needs to demonstrate the seriousness of the issues as well.
Having spent many years in church leadership I have never seen so many strong young men and women. They are better taught and more diligent in being faithful. Granted there is a separation but the "wheat" is definately "wheatier" - I am constantly amazed and inspired seeing these young people and feel the church is in good hands for generations to come.
This points out of what will be the fall of the Church. Stron are getting weak andn the weak are getting weaker. The education organisation is failing and needs to have a full time focus.
Amos 3:7
The proportion of young men and youth serving missions and remaining wedded to the faith has remained constant for decades--no better, nor worse. Fine to reinforce messages or come up with new ideas, but it is the same old, same old. The hyseria of a narrative that assumes things are getting 'worse' or that the youth are 'falling away' is not warranted by any evidence.
The LDS church is not going to fall. The Lord has promised that this church is not going to be taken from the Earth again. It may get smaller as Satan grows stronger, and the tares may be plentiful, but the wheat will stay strong. The Priesthood will remain on the Earth, and the church will still be run by Christ Himself, just as it is today.
(Amos 3:7) "Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his 'plan' to His servants and prophets." Fulfilled in John 15:15
