Pierce has missed the mark yet again. The point is not, as he stated, that "the plot has careened out of control". Rather, the point is that this so-called show continues to reach ever lower depths. The amount of nudity, indiscriminant sexuality, and violence committed merely for the sake of violence has reached levels never before seen in a program marketed as family entertainment. In addition, the anti-religious storyline is nothing short of outrageous. Modern Hollywood seems determined to destroy the morals of this Country. Unfortunately, this quest is acheiving great success.
Can anyone think of a good reason why this column should have been written, much less published?
Nudity, Violence? Have you ever watched the show? Go and put your rampage somewhere else. You have got to be kidding.
I find it interesting the way that Hollywood has portrayed this show. They have missed the mark a number of times. Take the show for what it is, a drama set in a polygamist family, nothing more. It is LESS violent and sexual than ANYTHING you'll see on network tv. Hold your judgment john, without having facts.
And one more thing John, if I am not mistaken I trust that your TV has an on/off button, the rest of free America suggests you use it. You can choose to be offended or choose not to be offended.
how is this marketed as a family entertainment? I agree with the author. The plot has gotten weird.
I was pretty sure the show was stupid, thank you for confirming it. Now I can *really* wonder about the intelligence of my friends who watch this.
I loved seasons 1-3. These three were simply outstanding in every way. This season is lacking--but happens with every show eventually.
Why does anyone watch this stuff?
In due time you will all have multiple wives just like Brigham and Heber :-]
I'm not interested in the show, but I don't find it that hard to believe that others may be interested in it. Especially since, from everything I've heard, it apparently has pretty intelligent writing, good acting, and, for some, an intriguing story and interesting characters. And that makes it far less dumb and pointless than a lot of the other shows out there. Even if it's not for all tastes (and what show is?)
It is dumb like Utah
Yeah, the program has gotten silly. A "Mormon" gaming casino that serves root beer floats? Come on. The story line is faltering, although I love Sissy Spacek, and I find the gay relationship between Alby and whats-his-name interesting, but hardly plausable. Could have been a better season.
Listen, the show has gotten really nutty. I am not LDS, but this show is the opposite of LDS, no family values, no morals, no truth. It was once new and interesting, but now it is well............TRASH.
If you think the plot has gotten weird... Well, a lot of the "crazy" is unfortunately realistic: It's the LeBaron's and the Kingston clan (the eugenics).
Season $ was a big mess.
I love the show and find it a wild and well done. Usually I watch episodes a couple or three times. At first I watched it because I found it sociologically interesting, and I still do: like the way that the issue of Utah women "dipping into the medicine chest all too often" was broached. I have seen this over-perfectionism with being wife & mother to large family being overwhelming in the Mormon culture. Also I love the characters and acting and think each episode I've watched was well written and performed.
