Outrageous

This is more evidence that tobacco is not the cause of sickness and death in Utah. It proves that tobacco taxes are unjustified and discriminatory and a hate tax. More evidence that medical reports are falsified to induce discrimination and hate. Also more evidence that food borne illness is more costly than reports that tobacco is responsible.

It also proves that lifestyle and food is killing and injuring and costing tax payers more so why aren't these products taxed for the same reason tobacco is taxed?

Food in america has been the crux of many and most illness in Utah yet nothing is done or taxed to prevent it. If food was taxed accordingly then it could have this $1.2 billion back in their annual budget. More than enough to offset the shortages.

Thank goodness Bush defanged the FDA so we have fewer and fewer safeguards against food-bourne illness.

This article proves tobacco taxes are unjustified? I would like to hear the argument of how food borne illness is even remotely related to tobacco taxes... good luck with that.

Also, why isn't food taxed? Likely because you have to eat to live, last I checked tobacco wasn't a necessity of life. I don't know about you, but I'd rather NOT pay more than I already do for food costs.

There isn't anything so bad that government can't make it worse. We regulate our food producers out of business, then are forced to eat un-regulated foriegn food.

My family has seen the effects of tainted food. Our 2 year old son died 3 years ago from e-coli contaminated spinach. The outbreak was known 3 weeks before we ever bought the spinach, but there is no tracking methods and the FDA does not have recall authority. It has been over 70 years since our food safety laws have been updated. My wife and I have been to Washington DC 3 times to lobby for this food safety modernization bill. It is targeted at the large producers that sell inter-sate and international and the processing facilities. This bill will not solve all our problems with food, but I believe that it will save lives and much unnecessary suffering. Do yourselves and your families a favor... find out more about the bill S510 and then contact your senators with questions, comments and hopefully your support.
