Time to listen to comments about "class". Sorry Utes, but you lost. And your coach doesn't like it. Now bring on the comments!
Does Monson have to be a beat writer to ask questions? Given his radio job, he clearly follows the team. Boylen is quite the class act.
Of course he gets mad at a stupid question like that. Sometimes I wonder if sportswriters think before they speak. Man, they did look bad tonight. How can they not be up for this game? Is Boylen getting heat from above?
You stay classy, Boylen.
I'm definitely not a Boylen fan, and I didn't listen to this exchange or anything, but sometimes reporters really are foolish. I get sick of some reporters, especially in sports, who purposefully push buttons and then act like they're just being journalistic. Sometimes you can tell they are trying to illicit a response in order to create a headline.
Good for Boylen.
Many in the Salt Lake sports media think that Utah is fair game for disrespectful and cheap shot reporting.
It's high time that a Ute coach stands up and refuses to be disrespected.
Gordon Monson is way out of line, its with that attitude thinking you can do or ask whatever you want that so often your foot is stuck in your mouth, I thought lawyers were bad but you take the cookie.
Monson makes a living by stirring up controversy, AND HE WANTS SOMEONE ELSE TO SHOW SOME CLASS???
It seems to me Boylen showed astonishing class and restraint in the face of Monson's provocative questions.
He answered the question the first time Gordon, you don't need to provoke the Coach for your own benefit by pressing a question he already answered.
As a Cougar Fan, my opinion of the Utes is pretty low, but my opinion of Gordon Monson is even lower. Dumb questions for a coach to have to answer. I'm surprised Boylen's head didn't explode.
Boylen screams at the refs, complains to the media, and makes excuses for his teams... but never, never does he admit that he and his staff make coaching mistakes and I have never heard him take even a bit of responsibility for the way his team plays.Has Boyle rubbed of on Ute fans... or have Ute fans rubbed off on Boylen?
Coach, take a lesson in humility, class, and responsibility from coaches that have it and display it. I would say look to the BYU football and basketball programs, but you don't have to look that far - just try to emulate coach Whittingham.
You don't need to show your frustration to the fans or the media. I'm sure there is even a classy way display your frustration to your team (where it should be directed) without being demeaning to them the way you are with the press. I hope you don't take that attitude home to you wife and kids.
It's a game... recognize that. Every night there will be a winner and loser - you have learn how to do both with class and humility.
Monson is a Ute fan, he's just ticked off that Boylen and his Utes laid an egg.
Utah reporters had as bad a night as the Ute basketball team. Both flopped!
Of course, Boylen sounded like Boylen. I've never been impressed with him. Doubt he'll last.
Everyone praised Boylen for his comments after the last BYU game. I heard his full comment, not just the sound bite, and thought he was proving what a jerk he really was (this had to do with the half-hearted swing that was made toward Emery). Tonight he has proven once and for all what a jerk he really is. There is nothing classy about him or his program. We have become a joke. Please!!! Get us a new coach!!!
i agree with the last comment. no one ever reportsd what byu people say. its nott as bad as bronko mandenhall saying the F bomb 5 or 6 times after they beat colorado state last year. everyone seems to forget about that
Cougar fan in support of Boylen. I wish everyone would give Monson the same response.
Thanks coach Boylen BYU fan's can't stand Monson either I only wish we could run him out of town. I know he went to BYU but he is a real pathetic reporter.
The last comment was exactly right. Boylen NEVER takes ANY responsibility for anything that happens with the Utes unless it's a positive. He is clearly just auditioning for a bigger gig with another program. He's upset because right now it sure doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon. BYU and Dave Rose have won every head-to-head recruiting battle the teams have had, BYU has won 7 of 8 (should have been 8 of 8 really), and Boylen is rubbing fans and everyone the wrong way.
The guy is ingenuine, annoying, loud, obnoxious, and is not doing a great job. We need to get a new coach.
Monson asking for class. hahahaahahahahahahahahahahaahahah
Thanks' coach Boylen
"Does Monson have to be a beat writer to ask questions? Given his radio job, he clearly follows the team."
See, I think his radio job means he doesn't follow the team. I think it means he talks a lot about things he knows a lot less about than beat writers or even some fans. The only extra knowledge he would get comes from being around the team - which he isn't. He is a good parrot though.
At least Boylen is consistent...He is rash, quick tempered, emotional, immature, and has few people skills.
Add frustrated and embarrassed to the list...
Keep Coach Boylen...he is getting better....he is getting smarter...he is getting tougher...he is improving in every way...just like 'his guys'.
KEEP COACH BOYLEN...
