Tough loss for Olympus in a strange playoff format. Nicholas Paulos had an outstanding season and career for the Titans. We will be sad to see him leave and look forward to watching him in the future. Good luck Nicholas and the rest of the Olympus team.
Congrats on the win Sky View. Coach Andersen is doing a great job and your kids are working hard. Good luck against Timpview!
To Olympus
All I can say is CHOKE CITY.
Every year they seem to choke at state
and this ways going to be one of there best years.
well as they say at Olympus....there's always next year.
Once again we are one and done. How does this happen almost every year. It seems like we do extremely well in region and in preseason and then lose in the first round.
Does the game change that much from region to the playoffs?
Well looks like Oly turned out just as I expected. They play tough during the regular season and then their style of play doesn't get them the wins in the playoffs. Can't say I didn't call it. They have great kids, but something needs to happen so these kids can win in the tourney. Best of luck Paulos and co.
It starts with conditioning and weight training both of which Oly does not do. Secondly, when you live by the three pointer, it catches up with you - especially in the state tourney. Oly struggled from mid-season on. No, not that two players were injured - both horrible at ball control, but that teams figured Olympus out, and that was to play man to man defense. Three pointers don't come easy in a man to man. Additionally, Barnes has never used his "bigs" effectively - that is important when teams go man to man. Don't force 3's, go down low. Unless Barnes changes focus to multiple offensive shemes and stop relying on 3's it will be the same thing every year------power in season, flop in playoffs.
The Titans werwe hurt this year due to player injury. The other comments don't seem to understand basketball. The only defense that I saw that bothered the Titans was a zone used by Tooele and slowing the ball down. They overcame this due to hard practice. As to the players injured they were both instrumental in Olympus running their offense. The team was on a roll and momentum along with a rythym that all good teams get into. The injuries change the rythym and the momentum had to start all over again. The junior guard did a great job but did not have a back up. Another player had to change roles and that changed the rythym. The injuries can be compared to a guitar losing one string, it does not sound the same. To make it sound like it was before you have to replace all the strings. Breaking them in takes time. Both of of Oly's "bigs" played a huge role in this years team's success. "Oly Frustration" sounds like a frustrated parent who thinks he knows basketball. This years team did not deserve to have to play in Smithfield in the first round.
