You are an icon and an example of class in every way! You will greatly be missed. You have touched hundreds of kids for the good during your career.
Coach, It has been a pleasure to work your games and watch you coach with the highest of standards. Congratulations!
Yessir
Jimmy was a great teacher and more importantly a great leader by example.
Enjoy your retirement, you richly deserve it.
Thanks for the great memories, Coach.
WE have learned a great deal about basketball and more about life.
Godspeed.
Enjoy your well-deserved retirement,Coach. High school basketball in Utah is better in every way because of Jim Yerkovich. He has had significant impact on so many coaches and players. I appreciate his example and advice. Years ago I benefited greatly from just a few minutes spent with the wise, veteran coach. With the nature of the game today, it is unlikely we'll ever see coaches stay in the profession as long as he did with the sustained energy and success he enjoyed.
A well deserved retirement Coach. Thank you for all that you do. You will be missed. Agreed, you will always be an Icon.
Mr. Galley hid the nail on the head -- highly unlikely we'll see coaches in this day and age stay on for that many years. Bravo, Yerk, for a job well done. Enjoy the much deserved retirement.
Congratulations on a job well done. You have been a role model for all Utah high school basketball coaches. You have done the job in the right way!!! You will be missed.
I think there's a beach in Australia calling your name Jim.
This man has provided a lot of great competition and set a good example for us for years! Thank you for your contribution to Utah High School basketball coach and the best of you in your future endeavors! God bless you!
You have been a great role model for all the players and fans in this state for many years. Thanks for defing what HS basketball should be about.
For years I've watched Coach Yerkovich install excellance in his teams both on the court and off.
Thanks for the great run and all the lives you have touched. Good luck in the future.
Coach Yerkovich is a great man and he deserves all the accolades he gets. Great, great man. It is the end of an era. I hope they get someone to replace him that will carry on the class and tradition. Giovaccini is the only assistant who matches that criteria.
Emerson said it best: "What you are thunders so loudly in my ears, I cannot hear what you say." The man who has been that outstanding example to the hundreds of basketball coaches in Utah for decades in hanging up his towel. Thanks so much for that Emerson-like example, Yerk; and know that the state of Utah, its professional associations and organizations, and the thousands of students you've influenced, both athletes and not, love and appreciate your long-lasting career. The Utah high school scene will never be the same without the master prowling the sideline with his towel in hand. Best wishes for a well deserved and wonderful retirement. You're a great man.
i coached against jim for many years he is a fine man and a great coach i always had great respect for him you were one of the finest jim go get em
We had some classic battles in the 1980's between Jordan and Judge (as I was an assitant to Hal Hale at Jordan at the time.) I have always had great respect for coach Yerkovich. He is a class act and earned repect from all coaches around the state. Best of luck and health in your retirement Coach! You are a great example to everyone.
All of us who ever coached against Jim or have had any association with Coach Yerkovich feel the same - a once in a lifetime coach. Congratulations on your retirement. You will be missed and we all wish you well. Thanks!
Appreciate all you did for me coach. Great coach, but even better person. Loved to joke along with his players, but when it was time for business knew how to succeed. Loved playing under him for 3 years and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Best of luck to you and your family in the future Coach Y, Thanks again for everything!
Jim, thank goodness you're realizing there's more to life than Basketball..like perfecting that Oz Accent, knocking the Poms and driving on the left side.
Manly beckons... along with a bottle of White
Love,
Frank
