I read this story on Monday night. Now I am confused about those games happening on MOnday or Tuesday and the story will be online for days, further complicating the issue. Use DAYS, not "tonight".
Big deal, they have had a cake walk up until now. I hope they are battle ready. I know a region that is.
Good luck Panthers!

"Big deal, they [Bingham] have had a cake walk up until now. I hope they are battle ready. I know a region that is."
I assume you are referring to region 4?
This is just like football?
"Region 4 is so tough that our teams are so much better because we play the best every week." And yet the result was a Bingham state championship. Look for the same outcome here: victories over Alta in the semis and Davis in the final - just like in November.
Bingham has had a cakewalk? Yes, Bingham dominated their region but that is on UHSAA, they have to play who they are aligned with. But they play the big boys in the preseason when they have some control over things. They are 4-0 against the other favorites (i.e. Davis, Fremont, Brighton, and Alta).
I have to agree with Miners 10:01. It doesn't matter if your region is the toughest. The only thing that matters is taking home the trophy. All of this talk about regions and conferences is worthless.

Very true. How many basketball state championships has Davis won recently?
They say it's hard to beat a good team twice. Fremont could very well knock off Bingham in the second round. But if I were a betting man I would still pick Bingham. If you can shut down Clifford, you have a chance at Bingham. But shutting him down is not easy. The bad thing about going into the post season undefeated (in 5A, they lost to Oly) is you have everything to lose, and everyone expects you to win. It could cause for some disappointment. Bingham could easily win it all though.
I recall the last time the so called 'better' regions got caught looking ahead, totally overlooking a so called weak Region II, Hunter and Cottonwood played for the state title. Neither team recieved much hoopla throughout the entire year (2003-2004). The so called big boys in the other elite regions got caught up reading their press clippings, ending up on the outside, looking in.
This is your warning, don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion!
Long time head coach of the Highland Rams, Larry Maxwell, often told his teams before contending for a state title, "Don't ever be afraid to win a State Championship".
Let the 'real' March Madness begin!
Best swishes to all!
I think the West Panthers are dangerous despite Bob Lyman and his sketchy track record.
Whatever State Employee or UHSAA member that made the decision to eliminate the first day of the state tourney at the bigger venue is an idiot. These days are not only great and memorable to the students that play but they are great memories for the students who are chearing as well. Letting 4 schools out of school early one day will not hurt their education. The decision maker obviously was never part of any athletic team in their life. This was a bad modification and needs to be changed back.
A basketball fan.
Region 3 never gets respect year in and year out but they just keep putting up numbers in basketball. West Jordan is the current champ and has won 2 State titles within the last 8 years and played in 4 of them. Binham has one State title and has played in 2 of the last 4. Riverton has played in 2 of the last 4 as well. Mark my words that Region 4 will not win like the paper wants to make you think they will. Outside of Lone Peak, that group of teams never live up to the press in hoops.
Go Miners, Jags, and Grizzlies.
Region 3 fan
I agree. I was just told that West Jordan beat Pleasant Grove 52-50. The press wanted you to think that was a surprise but seriously who thought WJ would lose a first round game. It doesn't happen. Give Coach Briggs a week to prepare and he will win 99% of the time.
Nice job West Jordan. That makes 5 state tourney victories in a row.
Don't under estimate us come tourney time.
Clutch!
Bingham wins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Copper Hills wins!
Well, looks like four of the five region 4 teams lost tonight, three of those losses came from region 3. I never bought the tougher region nonsense. It reminds me of people arguing about the big 12 or SEC being superior in football.
Now what region did you say was tough??? Bring on the "Big Boys" ---Go Grizzlies,Miners and Jaguars
I'm the same guy who posted at 10:01.
Yea, Region 4. Tough region? Ready to play?
1-4 including 0-3 against region 3.
Maybe region 3 is the best region. Is Bingham just SO good that Copper Hills and West Jordan are overlooked?
Of course that Davis-Fremont thing is pretty nasty too.
Wow.
Region 4 laid an egg!
Except for Alta.
Copper Hills surprised me. The others you could possibly see.
I'm still going to see the games this week at Weber State.
Later.
um .... to the state tourney at weber state person they didnt change it so that kids dont get out of class they changed it so that regions dont have to take turns every year taking one less team to state because the region up north is so big just thought i would help you out with that little facts :)
