Rocks! Good Job Cougars and Lobos
LUNARDI has 4 teams in on Bracketology
Let the pressure be on the Lobos.
Although the Cougars lost on Saturday in basketball, they are major heroes this week as they put on the 20th Annual Hunger Banquet. It's Thursday the 4th and Saturday the 6th. The Hunger Banquet is a student-run event which raises awareness among the student body and money for non-profit organizations. Attendees are sorted into representative world-income distributions (ie most people will be sitting on the floor eating rice and beans while a few select people have tables, waiters, and fancy food like tucanos). We are focusing on the celebration of human dignity, particularly in the field of development. To properly express this theme, there will be several musical performances and a man named Martin Burt coming all the way from Paraguay to speak to us. It is going to be an amazing event. You can buy tickets at the Wilk info desk. Thanks!
It was obvious that Jimmer was not feeling well. Some say that he should have "played through it." If you've EVER followed his career, you'd know he would not have sat down unless he was not able to play.
It would have been a much different game with him in there.
can't wait for the rematch in Las Vegas at the tourny.
The pollsters were nice to BYU this time. Usually, they REALLY drop this team when they experience just one loss from the previous week.
Considering Jimmer wasn't a factor and they lost to a highly-ranked team, that probably helped to keep the Cougars within ear-shot of making the top 10 by NCAA tournament time.
It will take beating Utah and then winning the MWC tournament, depending on whether UNM and/or UNLV are in their path to that title.
NCAA tournament seeding will play a big part in whether the Cougars can advance past the first round, let alone into the Sweet 16. A win over UNM in the tournament (AND winning that title) could do the trick.
After watching Notre Dame beat a top team this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised the tournament officials try to match them up with BYU---expecting them to handle BYU and rid the tournament of that little pest.
Way to go USU, in the "others receiving votes" category for the 2nd week in a row. Just sit back and enjoy the moment.
More than fair. BYU just needs to do their job and everything else will take care of itself. Go cougs
Haven't you heard? They're the "best team in the state" because they've won 27 of the 30 games all against colleges from either inside this state or Idaho.
Ernest, that was kind of you to recognize us Ags, we're loving the "others receiving votes" category but would've appreciated a little help from the Cougars this weekend. Still a great Cougar team who should win a game or two in the tourney.
BYU's best win is against UTEP at UTEP without Jimmer Fredette. Hopefully we can also get a win against UNLV or UNM in the conference tourney. The worst beatdown in the history of Arizona basketball wasn't bad either. SDSU isn't bad either and we beat them twice.
People can say whatever they want about the Cougars schedule but you are uninformed if you think the Cougars aren't a good team.
I'll be at the hunger banquet Saturday!
There are those who need to get away from the "ledge", than there those who need to jump off the "ledge"! Jump, Ernest, Jump!
MWC is a strong league this year.
Cougars will be ranked in Basketball and Football.
Great year to be a COUGAR!
on one account at least...
NMU still has Steve Alford as coach! Poor Lobos.
Let's look back a few years to BYU's glorious early 1990s basketball team. Coach Roger Reid leads the team to back to back 25 win seasons and NCAA tournament appearances! Huzzah for cougar nation! Similarities are definitely there in last year and this year! But wait, what happens next? The team is struggling.... and oh no! 4 years later, BYU goes 1-25? How could this happen? I believe it's called the pride cycle. Enjoy cougars!
LOL, what else Lehi?
just sore
get over it and lets move forward
MWC rocks!!
Different teams, different coaches, how can you possibly know you are in the same situation. Your type of post can be called pointless, over reaching, or just plain stupid.
Utah is finally showing their skills and potential. After beating BYU this Wednesday, the Utes will have a chance to slip into the Top 25.
Utah's going to make the tourney yet!

I haven't heard too many people saying that USU is the best in the state. Actually, none, but then I'm sure a few say that outside of my hearing. And they have a case: USU beat BYU, the other serious contender. USU has a higher RPI strength-of-schedule than BYU, according to RPI (actually BYU just pulled into a near tie, but still trailing technically).
But still, most Aggie fans will probably agree that BYU must be considered the stronger team, based on rankings on paper, including polls and RPI ranking. But I guarantee every Aggie fan would love to see them play again! And anticipate winning again!
Dude do you all need a team Dr up there?
We dont want little jimmy getting sick for the tournament or spreading anything!
I can send him some pepto
