Sad

I drove through Heber before heading down to watch this game, I was shocked to see NOT 1 LOCAL BUSINESS had a sign wishing these boys luck, this is a small community and to not see any support from it is a shame, we do applaud the local police and fire department for taking 20 minutes out of their lives to give them a ride up and down Main Street!

Congrats Wasatch for a fabulous year hard work and dealing with the pressure of having a target on your back, next year will be more of the same as only 2 starters leave the team I think we will see back to back Championships, and give credit to the youth program and to all of those who are building the future for Wasatch this is where it all starts and Coach Hayter understands that!

To Sad

What a great season these young men had! Congratulations Wasatch1 Way to cap it off with a state championship. I am SADDENED, however, that anyone would say there was a lack of community support! UVU was packed with Wasatch fans. In my estimation Wasatch supporters outnumbered Judge fans 2 to 1 at the championship game. The local businesses in Wasatch County do tremendous things to support our schools. It think is is SAD that one would say there was a lack of support from the local businesses rather than celebrating what these young men accomplished. Great job boys and thanks to all who supported this team over the years and throughout this season!

re: Sad

No signs in town maybe but Wasatch had 2 to 3 times as many fans in the stands as most of the other schools.

Wasatch

If you want a shot at beating the Wasps, you better do it in the next couple of years, because there is a basketball family coming that will bring domination to that school for a decade - mark my words, the Ballsteadt boys will dominate at Wasatch for years. Congrats Wasps.

Re: Sad

I'm sorry that you had that impression by driving through, but let me assure you that the Heber community is incredibly supportive of our schools and students. There might not have been signs in the windows, but there were local businesspeople who left work to come cheer for the team, even if they didn't have a son of their own playing. When the team has fundraisers for the program, our community steps up and pitches in, even when the economy is so tough. The donations from our businesses, often done without any expectation of publicity in return, demonstrate that this entire community is behind our kids (not just basketball, but all of our teams and activities). Our businesses and private individuals fund an unbelievable scholarship program for our graduating seniors--one that provided over $120,000.00 in scholarship last year alone. So please, don't let that one observation make you believe that our community doesn't support our students. It truly does, as any one of our students would tell you.

And let me add my congratulations to the team! What a great season! Let's do it again next year!

a Heber business owner

Thanks, I stand repremended. I am a Heber Business owner and I blew it. I have been to most of the home games of the men and womens basketball teams and have been very impressed with the play of the teams and the way the coaches coached. Way to go Wasatch! We will make up our slip up to you!

shame

I am so happy Judge did not win. But it is a shame that Wasatch won. Emery was by far the best team there.

lets make it two!

Congrats guys, the most satisfying thing about Wasatch's win is the quality of boys that they have in the program, they are relentless! Butch Murdock has been a staple with these boys for the last 10 years and needs to be thanked for the hours he has spent with each of them. With the same thing happening with the underclassmen, we have great things to look forward to with Wasp basketball in the next few years. Coach Hayter has shown the commitment to the program that we need to keep getting better.

While there might not be signs up in the community, this program is supported heavily by parents, youth coaches, and others in the community that are more than willing to help build something special. Go WASATCH!!

Judge Parent

Congratulations to Wasatch. An utterly dominant performance and a well deserved championship. The TEAM basketball yours Wasps display is a pleasure to watch. It's very clear why your team enjoyed such an incredible season. Congrats again to Wasatch and it's fans.

3A

Who does Wasatch lose? Who should step in? Any young kids that didn't play much this year that look to be good?

Wasatch is THE dominant winter sports school in the entire state as relates to their classification.

JudgeFan

Congratulations Wasatch! A very well-played game and a well-deserved win. The best team did win that Saturday afternoon!

Re: Sad

I will back up all of those that are saying there is a TON of support from the Wasatch High School community. Like they said, we out numbered Judge at least 2-1 maybe 3-1. Many of the people there didn't have a son, or a cheerleader, or a dancer performing at half time. It's the support they offer at EVERY game. They fill "The Nest" EVERY game. They filled BOTH gyms in the old high school. I graduated last year from Wasatch and I was very involved as a cheerleader and on student government. The incredible support we received on a week to week basis let alone a State event is incredible. To judge our community by a drive through is immature, and you should've noticed the support when you got to the game. Also, this year all the businesses have flags posted a Wasatch flag to show their support. You probably didn't notice those. Congratulations boys! YOU DID IT!!!

Wasatch hammered Emery earlier in the year, what are you talking about?

Wrestling Program

still at a high level (second in state) and basketball takes state. Good things afoot in the Heber Valley in the athletic program. Baseball should be a contender too.

JM73

Well done, Wasatch. Patient, unselfish, disciplined offense. Pressure defense. Other teams may have more talented individuals; none played better team ball. Be proud Wasatch.

Judge Supporter

Wasatch was just awesome. They were the better team. Congrats. Your team and coaches are also classy people. The Myaer kid could not get going at all and the big kid was not even a factor. Just a well coached game.

Thanks Judge

We were honored to play against a fantastic program like Judge. It's been a great rivalry and hope it continues with the great sportmanship we have had for each other.

re: Judge Parent

Thank you very much! You folks are a CLASS ACT! I know it is a fierce rivalry but your players are respectful, show good character, the real deal! It was gratifying to watch my boy chatting it up at half court with Zach in an obviously friendly conversation! I started talking with a Judge parent walking out the door and he was very gracious, friendly and complimentary! We talked for 20 minutes and it was hard to pull away from the conversation about our boys and basketball!

Another JM Parent

You guys are class. Wasatch AD should be proud. Great coaches in all sports, great fans, and class kids. Your support is incredible. We had a handful of students and relatives at the game. Wish we had the support your school has. Congrats!

To our Judge Boys: Nice job! You have made it a real joy for us parents. You didn't play as well as you wanted, but you made us very proud. We love you all a lot. Thanks.
