I think he was more valuable that Jimmer would have been in that situation. Fredette, as good of a player and scorer that he is, takes a lot of ill-advised shots. Loyd was selective, smart, moved the ball, and provided an element of surprise for UNM. The numbers don't lie...a 12-1 run. It took New Mexico time to make adjustments. It wasn't just him, but he was a huge contributor.

At the end of the day, props to UNM. They lost the first two games of the conf season then finished to the wire (assuming they beat TCU), including some close games, many of them on the road. It's a team that knows how to win...a trait that should serve them well in March.

You did a great job! You were the spark we needed and gave us the chance we were hoping for! Way to believe in yourself even when you don't get many chances.

But Loyd played a great game and really got the crowd into it. He was fabulous in trying to fill in for Jimmer and he was clearly the MVP for BYU today. Too bad the Cougars couldn't get a couple more points in the last two minutes and Loyd would be heralded as the hero that he was.

I have always wanted loyd to play move jimmer to shooting guard and bring emery or haws of the bench loyd has great speed. will need that speed in the big dance

The speed was amazing!! I've never seen a BYU player that fast (and I've been following BYU for more than four decades). They'll have to find him a place next year in the starting five. He certainly would help with more athletic guards and should be used more often.

On a team full of talent, still, Michael Loyd Jr. demands more playing time.

Mike had a great game and probably did as much as JF could have done except for the final play of the game. I thought that he made good decisions and didn't turn the ball over which was key in this game. Now, I hope his play continues and he gets more playing time.

Also, I thought Haws should have been the one player with the ball at the end, since he can shoot from anywhere and can make free throws.

Lloyd, a bright star in an otherwise dark BYU night. A truly awesome performance. Definitely one of the best of the year by any BYU player. I'm so glad he is on our team. I'm excited to see him excell the rest of this year as well as the next two.
