Thank you!

This is just common sense and it's about time it becomes law!

Save our kids . Rid of all foreigners. Utah for mormons

how

about the food stamps these illegals get? I get tired of waiting in lines as they send their money back via western union , utilize the homeless shelter get all the perks we as citizens could never get there! Enough what is the law...what does illegal mean?

Samuel Adams Logan

This is the best bill that's come out of the Utah Legislature this session. If you know any American out of work. you should support this bill. If you know any senior citizens or disabled people. you should support this bill. Because our Children's S S numbers are being stolen, and the State doesn't have enough money to fund our schools. You should support this bill. If crime, gangs and drugs worry you. You should support this bill. Dry up the jobs and Illegals will self deport.

Need punishment

Finally someone trying to punish the real problem behind illegal immigration: the businesses. Don't get rid of the penalties. Without the stick businesses will not follow through on this law.

bad law

Why make it illegal to work?
Although many will disagree, the way I see it the current methods of dealing with the problem are not working.
We are not going to round up millions of people and ship them out of the country.
Most of them have legal resident children that we can not expel.
We then will have to bear the cost of the childrens care.
This will be billions of dollars to pay for.
Why do we not set up one ss# that can be used by migrant workers.
We will collect social security and federal and state taxes.
Exemptions would be set at 0 this would create the maximum deduction.
They can never make a claim of SS or file taxes and get a refund.
It is part of the cost of being given a job in this country.

Dear Bad Law,

Its illegal for them to be here. End of story. All your excuses, some almost valid, don't make up for the fact that its AGAINST THE LAW for them to be here.

Want to know what's really wrong in America? Read the rules on the UNITED STATES CENSUS, and discover that they are not allowed to ask if you are a citizen of the United States. Imagine that? A CENSUS required to COUNT AMERICANS, and they are not allowed to ask the persons filling it out, if they are AMERICANS.

The United States is finished, because of people who refuse to follow the rule of law, which sometimes, makes things uncomfortable for some. Why not just throw open the borders, and give the whole freaking world free medical care, jobs, and social security benefits. Such an attitude makes me sick.

To Bad Law

"We are not going to round up millions of people and ship them out of the country"

Why not? If illegals come to the attention of the authorities they should be deported. They have the option to take their US born minor children with them if they do not want to be separated or leave them here to be cared for by citizens or legal residents. They can then apply to re-enter legally and have an advantage as their children are legal. There are consequences for illegal conduct.

In the meantime this is a superb piece of legislation, pity the criminal penalities will be removed before passage but I just hope it passes.

Thats good as Im US Born&raised

And very much Grateful for All my Ancestors of Mexican-HEINZ- Heritage Lives on right Here!

Outrageous

You mean the legislature is actually going to make businesses follow the law?

Current E-Verify User

I think this bill is a great idea for this one, particular argument:

The easy-to-use program indemnifies HR/Hiring from the tangled mess they are in without it.

The current expectation is that these non-experts in documentation (as admitted by the USCIS) must reject documentation that does not "reasonably appear to be genuine." If you reject in error you are in trouble, if you accept too many in error you are in trouble.

In over 12 years of looking these over, I had only rejected two at face value. In the eight months of using E-Verify, I have found 8 to be ineligible for employement - each one having documentation that easily passed scrutiny.

Common Sense

Obviously common sense is in short supply. It is common sense to refuse to provide any public benefits or jobs to those who are illegally in this country. Illegals are here to steal the American dream for themselves without going through the lawful procedures in place to come to this country and share in the opportunities available. Why reward the criminal and ignore those who are patiently waiting in line and following the law. So they may have endured some hardship while entering illegally, so what, that was their poor choice.

Display signs

i notice that Ross's clothing stores have been displaying signs which state that they use E-Verify. I would like to see other businesses do that. I will patronize businesses which choose not to hire illegals but I would like to know who those businesses are. This would be one way.

Good for Utah! I only wish the NC state legislature had enough backbone to do the same. Our state has around 600,000 immigrants and over half are illegal. Employers need to be heavily fined for even hiring illegal aliens or anyone in this country who is not authorized to live or work here. I'm tired of hearing how these people do the jobs Americans won't do. Bull-oney! Who did the "crap" jobs before the illegals got here? The jobs somehow got done, didn't they? But most Big Businesses refuse to pay a decent living wage & the jobs go to the lowest bidder. If I was in charge of hiring anyone for a job I would NEVER hire a person who is here illegaly or not authorized to work. I can understand why these people are desperate enough to sneak across the border--but that doesn't make it right. The federal govt. expects the states to do something about the problem & vice versa. Result: nothing gets done. At least Utah is doing something!

Hispanic Judges & Nurses

Forget it
The Grapevine
stays Right here In America)

Doesn't matter

Just wait and see if EnergySolutions and the Utah Tax Payer Association supports it. If they do, then all the money they spread around will do the talking...if they don't, it will die.

To: Hispanic Judges etc

Is there a point you want to make? I have no problem with immigrants from any country as long as they are legal. Why are you raising the issue of Hispanics? Not all illegals are Hispanic. Illegal is not a race of people it is a state of being in violation of the law which has nothing to do with country of origin or race. It is the illegal action which I object to.

Tami

I completely support this measure. If we remove the profit motive for companies to hire illegals, perhaps they will return home on their own. Why stay here if they can't find work?

Thats no problem to most of us..
