Thank Goodness!
Taxpayers do not have unlimited funds to feed the education establishment.
Cut 50% of all education STAFF jobs immediately.
Cut administrators pay by 25% immediately, except Supt. Barry Newbold's obscene $237,000 which should be cut by 50%. Cut school board benefits and pay by 50%. Cut sports program funds by 50%.
The featherbedding teachers unions cannot be believed, and the "cut essentials first" approach by the district are unacceptable.
Thank you teachers, but not so much administrators.
Suck it up folks, this is just the beginning.
Look at the difference in salaries of Canyons and Jordan S. D. administrators!
Jordan S.D.:
Barry Newbold SUPERINTENDENT - $237,373
D Burke Jolley Deputy Superintendant Business - $185,775
Sherry Wasden Deputy Superintendent Instruct - $173,578
Canyons S.D.:
David Doty Superintendent - $175,000
Keith Bradford Deputy Superintendent Business - $155,000
Ginger Rhode Deputy Superintendent Instruct - $155,000
Cut there first!
JUSTICE Prevails!
Justice didn't prevail, the students are the ones who are suffering. I can't afford to have my taxes increased, and they aren't. People can't afford to lose jobs, they will. Most importantly are the thousands of students who will be left without the programs and tools needed for a decent education, that isn't justice.
I agree with Chuck. Since the split the cost of administration was duplicated and money wasted. How many millions was spent on the chiefs that should have been spent on the indians. It is the braves who now suffer.
Do we really need Districts anyway? They seem so cumbersome and costly. The split only made the problem worse.
This makes me so mad. I am a student in Jordan School District but I currently attend school in Canyons. I'm going to high school in Jordan next year. I have already taken really hard courses but this has made it so I won't be able to get a very good high school education- so what was the point of spending time and money on the harder courses? Very sorry if I offend anyone in Canyons, but I think they're being selfish. They broke off because they didn't want to pay for our growing population when we paid for them when their population grew- think of Sandy especially. They can't expect us to pay for that and then turn their backs and leave us so much in debt. I was excited to go to high school but I don't want to be crammed in classrooms with over-stressed teachers- this isn't fair at all. The district split happened way too soon for either side.
