Hmm.

Guess how many legislators run or help build charter schools.

We don't have money for our real schools let alone duplicating services that we are already offering.

Where are they getting all of this money?

We now have to pay for more principals, secretaries, custodians.

Charter schools are what got us into this whole mess.

ENOUGH ALREADY!

Charters actually spend less per student than any school district. Maybe I'm ignorant, but I fail to see how a school that educates students below the going cost is a bad thing.

"Failure to see" is a good description of most people's opinions and knowledge. Many argue from their prejudices and personal opinions rather than the facts.

For example, it's difficult to know the exact costs involved in educating an individual student. The figures can be manipulated depending on what you want to promulgate. I don't know those figures, so I can't comment on whether charter schools can actually do it for less or not.

Even if they could, there are other factors (sometimes hidden or which may emerge in the future) that figure in as well. Public schools offer a wide diversity of population and teachers as well as subjects which prepare their students for that which they will face outside of school.
