....and in 3-5% of the general population they will suffer the adverse reaction to the drugs, and will kill themselves, and in many case -- others with them as well.

No one-size-fits-all

The truth is:

Drugs help reduce suicide for some, and increase it for others.

areader

one could only hope that if a loved one is feeling that way with the use of a antidepressant drug that they would tell some one or their dr. allthough it doesnt happen that way and its true the drugs do increase it for some and decrease it for others, its just very hard to tell if they will go the next step for the help or if they just end it all. what a tough road to travel my heart goes out to all how serve our country!!!!! God bless!!!

I was born and raised in Sandy, grew up in the church and have many friends. I, and pretty much every one of these friends take Prozac on a daily basis to counter depression. If the figures are right then surely we would have known someone that had committed suicide but none of us do. I will say though that prior to Prozac, I had many harmful thoughts due to the depression I was suffering. Now I am happy each and every day and receive many church callings.

Interesting that the only doctor who felt antidepressants were "helping" rather than hurting people is one from the U of U who has made SO MUCH $$$$$ off of these drugs!! What an embarrassment!

Dorothy I don't meet ANYONE anymore who does not know someone who has committed suicide on an antidepressant - especially in Sandy, Utah which has led the world in the use of antidepressants from the very beginning!

After reading this I immediately called John Virapen to apprise him of this article. His response: HE WANTS A PUBLIC DEBATE WITH DR. RUDD. ARE YOU READING THIS DR. RUDD?

Who is John Virapen? John is the former executive director of the Swedish Branch of Eli Lilly & Company who BOUGHT/BRIBED the approval of Prozac for Eli Lilly in Sweden. Here is a quote from his new book "Side Effects: Death — Confessions of a Pharma Insider."

"Virapen claims that anti-depressants and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) were known to have suicidal and homicidal side effects, even during clinical trials. Thanks to spin marketing and paid, positive articles in scientific journals, he points out, the adverse reactions were often ignored or given little thought by prescribing physicians and patients."

I, I, I...

Do you know 25 people taking these meds?
How about 100??
Then you might run across 1 (statisically) who would have a bad reaction.

I'm glad they help you and your friends.
But 3% being terminal would not be considered a SAFE medication.

Let's say 3% of the population gets an upset tummy ache. That med would be pulled from the market.
Let's say that med kills 3%, but makes $25 billion per year....hmmm, let's say those people would have hurt themselves anyway.

"I" have had the opposite experience.

I have had 3 of my friends kill themselves.
And I have tried 2 myself before discovering it was the "MEDS" they were causing it, not me or them!

Mark my words, these meds kill!!!
That's why there is an investigation.

Doh!!!

You Utah people crack me up!

You believe Global Warming is a hoax and a government cover-up.

But deny SSRI meds have serious, serious side-effects.

Pick and choose what science to consider.

Amazing

Guinea pigs

NEVER TRUST AN ANTIDEPRESSANT! NOT EVER! Who knows what might be in antidepressant drugs? They continuously try them out on people, and then take many of them back off the market.

ROUTE 66

Antidepressants durgs saved my life.

When a person is at the end of hope, nothing is a
100%. Antidepressants are tool to pull people back from the edge.

If you have been there, you know what I mean.

Antidepressants may save lives, but I doubt they do it over a long period of time.
Utah is rated, what, 47, 50 out of 50 states with one of the HIGHEST Antidepressant rate in the country. It is no suprise that this recomendation came from Utah. As Utah as almost DOUBLE the national average for said Antidepressants.
We need to start offering psychological and emotional support for these vets for the horrors that we ask them to endure.
Shell-shock or PTSD does not end because of a blue pill. It ends when we give our men & women the tools they need to accept what has happened in the two wars that America is engaged in that are based on lies.
Not more drugs.
If that was truly the case, we would need medication for any menial task. Like going to the gorcery store.
As more and more excuses are found to put yourself into a drug induced state than to deal with the problems we have.

As a vet, I was saddened to notice the hotline, the phone line created to help war vets who are suicidal, had to effectively DOUBLE after the first year it was opened.

We do the men and women of our military a great disservice to medicate them...

but not treat them.

Sad but true

Antidepressant work for a short time, and just enough time to feel good for awhile and than the person is right back where they started from. They do NOT CURE DEPRESSION. Antidepressants numb the feelings and spiritual side of a person where they don't care much about anything, so they seem happy but very numb and uncaring. Antidepressant effects wear off like any other drug and than some of these people feel suicidal. They cannot deal with reality.
