Send the money back! We don't want the feds dirty money! We should assert our states rights now. Who cares about our children's health. We need to prove a point right here and now!

Then again . . .

Will this give the states more say in who can benefit form this grant? 2.6 ML will not go far when it comes medical services. Especially if hospitalization is needed. The CHIP program is like medicaid in that is subsidized by the FEDS money. How this all works is important since the "Obaminable health care" plan is similar but more controlling overall. We do not need more govt control, but less. This grant is better than none. I just hope the funds are not hoarded with children going without the approval of medical services. The needs are much greater than the supply of funding, is a no brainer.

Come on Utah, you want to cede from the union you need to start by refusing the federal money! Saying one thing and doing another while claiming righeousness is HIPOCRISY!

Seriously, anonymous! Why does anyone in their right mind think CHILDRENS HEALTH is more important than taking a stance against the federal government! Send it back! Send it back to Obama. My sick 6 month old daughter wants you to send it back (or at least she cant say anything about it).

So you don't want the federal money. Without it, you wouldn't have money to construct highways or fund aid to older or handicapped citizens. Do we just let children go without becaue of your ridiculous attitude? Next time you are out of work remember that federal dollars help fund food stamps and other programs that help see you through difficult times. Besides, our federal taxes are what comprise many of these funds returned to the states.

Sarcasm of earlier posters aside...

I really like the grant-based approach that HHS is taking to this program. Rather than throw a ton of money toward unproven ideas (as our federal congress seems so happy to do these days), run a pilot study and... see if the program actually works!! Hope it does.
