The article stats that Deputy County Mayor Nicole Dunn expressed concern about the "protection of the Snow Bird water shed and county water." You would think that the good Deputy would know that Sandy City is the partner with Salt Lake City and the partners have in place siginficant protections of the entire Little Cottonwood Canyon water shed. Sandy receives water from this sourc. Ironically, Salt Lake County does not operate a water system - yet, they are the experts. It sounds like Mayor Corroon needs to come back from the campaign trail and provide a Government 101 class to his staff.
Taxes are really low in Springville, try to get your friend the Senator to make the distance within 75 miles.
Good to see Sandy City staff reads the DNews.
As a resident of Alta, let me tell you the county is horrible to work with, can't make a decision, and has no leadership capacity to implement programs. If you lived up here you can understand why Snowbird might want to be part of a city.
Alta is incorporated - the citizens do not recieve County services. Troll somewhere else.
Sorry 12:19, Jake is correct. The County is horrible to work with and I own canyon land that is NOT in Alta. I completely understand why Snowbird is jumping ship. I am trying to get on board with them! As are my neighbors. You may want to ask yourself why there is so much dissatisfaction among canyon landowners because of how they have been treated by the County. There are real problems, and an Annexation could solve them. At this point we are all willing to try anything, because the County will NOT work with us.
Of course the dems who control SL County don't want Snowbird to leave; then they can't excercise as much control over land access. Being dems, their natural inclination is to lock up as much land as possible and keep those filthy humans from having any access to it or use of it.
RE: Hey Jake | 12:19 p.m. You made my point. I look at what Alta does for me as a resident and I see what goes on for the people who are in the unicorporated areas are and I'm glad I live in Alta. To this end, I can see why Snowbird would want to be part of a city.
Neither Snowbird or dissatisfied Landowner have specifically stated what the problems are?
"Sen. Curt Bramble, R-Provo, lays the groundwork for the popular Little Cottonwood Canyon resort,"...to expand into Utah County. Now there's the real "issue."
