The Jazz need Fesenko's shot blocking and overall presence in the paint defensively. He should have been getting more minutes long ago.
Hopefully this will translate into more time in more games. If he gets it, and the confidence and experience that will come with it, he'll be the asset to this team manyh of us have known he can be. Remember, he was on the floor down the stretch against Portland and played the OT, so that's experience in finishing a close game, and he did well. I would have liked to have seen him play just a few more minutes in that fourth quarter, but he did well while he was in there, and that's all you can do. Good game, even though it was a loss, and Fess was one of many guys who played hard and well.
Peace out from the Jazz Oracle!
Nice game... was playing well should have played more.
he really dosent have to do anything just stand there and make a differance
Playing time is the only way to condition and improve, and hopefully the balance of the season we will see this on a steady basis. It won't be long until we will need to freshen some players up for the playoffs and Fess, Miles, Gaines, Koufus can be the recipients of those minutes and at the same time prove whether we want to keep them or not this summer. I liked what I saw last night inspite of the loss!
He may be a goof-ball but he`s helped out every time I`ve seen him play, come on Jerry give this kid some regular minutes, how about giving him all of miles` minutes?
Jazz are 4-0 we Fes plays 19+ minutes in a game. Should have played him 6 more minutes, Coach Sloan.
Sleepy doing something right???come ON doesn't anyone study history??? how many good players does sleepy have to COMPLETLY DOMINATE before he lets them whimper a bit?????look at his history
i AGREE Houdini, give him CJ Miles, gee I could miss 2 free throws also down by 4 and my team needed me. Or brick one after another He takes more shots than Boozer? Spare us thAT IS The way to lose
Fes great work we are proud of you, keep going, keep working hey the way you acted when they called a foul using your hands, and quickly remembered no no-starting to sink in I would love to see either Millsap, Okur and Fez or Booz, Okur and Fes 2 7 footers at same time
Dear Jerry,
We have needed a big defensive center forever. We have been calling for more minutes for Fez. Your statement tonight sounds like you expect that he will mess up the next time you play him. Then he will be banished to the bench and will not be ready when we need him against the Lakers and Nuggets. Jerry sometimes you mystify me. Memo can mess up in game after game, and you don't seem to notice, it never affects his minutes. Cut Fez some slack. Yes he will make some mistakes, but he will continue to improve if you show a little confidence in him and please continue to give him the game time to grow into the center that we need.
Dear fans, can we start a collective to buy out CJ Miles' contract and get him off the team? He is absolutely terrible. He's willing to jack up whatever shot is available as soon as he gets the ball, including shots that are 5 feet behind the three point line. But, when the team needs him, down by four, he CLANKS two free throws. The dude has zero mental toughness. As the article stated, even Fess hit his free throws when needed. He may be an oaf, but he knows his role and does a good job at being big. CJ is terrible!!! Get rid of him!!!
Played hard, shorthanded, and Nunn and others who want to see our 7 footers are right. I've been saying this all along. But we seem to forget that we have another 7 footer on the pine: KK. We needed more inside play, as Booz only shot 12 times, and Memo and AK out. Why not play this kid. Maybe trade talk is scaring the Jazz because they know he may be gone, and they want to keep his price tag low too. Wow! What a business. Don't tell me he is young, or hasn't caught on yet. That is not true. He needs PT too.
"Playing time is the only way to condition and improve"
Are you kidding me? Players are made in the gym. Practice is what makes perfect. Game time is not a time to improve.
It looks as though Fesenko has worked his tail off this year. He still makes stupid mistakes, but he's hustling like crazy.
He looked good on defense, not great on offense. Camby wasn't afraid to get right up on him and try to create turnovers.
Let's not give the kid to much confidence Jerry otherwise he might actually think he can play? look at Jerry always trying the reverse psychology or maybe not? I'd still like to see KK get some time. Memo you are killing me! To everyone who thought trading Brewer was a good idea, this was one of those games where we could have used an athletic two guard and there will be others. I still feel Jazz management sold out on the players but it's not my money so I guess we have to live with it. Hopefully CJ,Matthews and Korver will pick it up but I have my doubts! It's amazing that we have the record we have without a legit starting two guard!
Hey if Clev. can lose 3 games in a row, the Jazz should be fine with just one loss. All these wins and still if they have a bad stretch, the Jazz could be looking at a 5 to 7 seed. There isn't alot of wiggle room out west. Look at Dallas with Haywood......makes you wonder doesn't it.
Fes needs to get in the weight room, his arms are putty.
@ FDR
I have always liked Kosta Koufos as well. He is a rebounding machine, about 1 for every 3 min of playing time. I only dared ask for one 7 footer at a time though, didn't want to ask for too much at once and get rejected.
Kosta has alot of physical potential just like Fes though it is clear to see that he needs playing time to get his rythum and confidence going. I say give him some playing time whenever we can and get him going. He is one more fast 7 ft. weapon to throw out there at Gasol. He also has 6 fouls to use so someone else doesn't foul out.
You can clearly see now that Fes should have been playing sooner. I believe the same is true with KK. But he is younger than Fes and Jerry likes to make them go through obedience training for a few years first.
at how the game changed when Fez came in. ATL had been going inside for easy shot after shot. All of a sudden it stopped. Almost every time they went inside the guards ended up on the floor or Fez hit a big with a disruption or a hard foul.
The momentum shifted and ATL went outside. That helped the perimeter defense. ATL is easier to guard if they are not likely to drive inside.
On CJ I have a few ideas. If he is going to get most of Brewers minutes he has to raise his shooting percentage. It is totally unacceptable for him to say he is going to just go out and do his thing. He has to step up and replace the things that Brewer did. He did have some steals and got some rebounds. He has to improve his passing and he has to improve his shooting percentage by taking better shots if he is not going to go inside a lot.
Almond insisted on doing his own thing and look where that got him.
I am not a Price fan but I am starting to appreciate the good in him.
Would someone remind me why we took the 4 million $$ offer that OKC gave for C.J and let Brewer slide for 2.7?
Right now Miles could be in a Thunder uniform and everyone would be all smiles keeping Brewer and the other wing players - minus air ball Miles.
If you want the honest to goodness truth about why the deal was matched for C.J. - according to Kevin O'Connor - it was because of the big mistake that was made for Mo Williams. The front office felt so bad about not seeing what Mo would become that they didn't want to miss the boat with C.J. It is just too bad that they got it backwards. :-(
As for Fess's game - it really was great to see him put together another decent game. Who knows, maybe this kid has a shot at messing up the middle like Mark Eaton did. If nothing, just providing something of a presence in the middle.
