It is a given in the MWC but Jimmer has given a reason for the rest of the nation to take note. 2 wins over SDSU and UNM and his stock will go up even higher. Way to show Jimmer.
Best player at BYU since Danny Ainge.
Now go out and win against San Diego St and New Mexico and a 3 or 4 seed is possiable with a POY award. Go Cougs go Jimmer!
The Baby Face Assassin does it again. Love Fredette and those Cougars!!!!!! Keep it up boys.
Well deserved, Jimmer. What a pleasure to watch you score or get an assist.
Jimmer has already won the MWC POY!
honors (perhaps 2nd team or honorable mention) should come his way too. He's getting national attention, not just conference level. Keep it up, Jimmer! We need your leadership and guts now that the tourneys are coming up. Go BYU!
will never do anything in the NBA. Jimmer is a lot like that Rose kid that played for BYU a few years ago he can shot lights out when nobody is guarding him, but his slowness and inability to create his own shot will severely limit him. BTW, not even close to the best player since Danny Ainge. I laughed for a good 5 minutes when I read that one. As far as pro-potential, the Aggies and Utes have 2 or 3 players each I would take before anyone on BYU's team.
Too early to crown him MWC king, but with strong games for Jimmer leading to wins over SDSU and New Mexico will all but slam the door on All American status and POY.
Go Jimmer! Go Team! Cougars rule!
Rose was a 3-point specialist.
Jimmer is a point guard who can drive to the hoop and shoot, even with someone in his face.
Sorry, but the MWC Player of the Year honors don't take into account NBA potential. Other than Araujo, Bogut, Granger, and Giddens, there haven't been ANY first round draft picks from the MWC. And the Aggies and Utes don't have anybody on their current rosters that are going to get drafted at all. Take your goggles off. Whether or not Jimmer ever gets drafted or plays in the NBA, he is going to have a much better chance than anybody on either of those teams. So YOU might take Aggies or Utes before Jimmer, but you would be alone (except for other biased Ute and Aggie fans...).
clueless analysis from a jealous loser
I doubt you'd find a single NBA scout who shares your clueless opinion
Anyone who would compare Jimmer's skill set to Rose's skill set and say they are similar is so obviously clueless that any conclusion they might come to is completely worthless.
do you even have a tv...clearly you do not get the MTN
"Best player at BYU since Danny Ainge"
OMG you didn't just say that...LOL
"Ok College Player but..."
Isn't sports great...and sports fans can be equally as entertaining!
Listen to this guy...
The Utes don't even have 2 or 3 players that would make BYU's team. They don't have a single player who would start for BYU, Weber or USU.
There are three kinds of People in this world.
People that make things happen.
People that watch things happen.
And then people like this guy, people that can't figure out what happened.
Beautiful...
People can laugh all they want, but Jimmer Freddette IS the best player at BYU since Danny Ainge.
It's a reasonable statement and a reasonable argument.
Jimmer can create his own shot, has a wicked cross-over and can bang the trey from anywhere on the floor.
As far as BYU NOT being athletic---that comment smacks of "white guys can't jump," syndrome.
BYU is plenty athletic---perhaps not Kentucky or Duke athletic, but as athletic and even more athletic, as every team they have played.
"White men can't jump," is as bad as "black guy is structurally athletic." Both smack of inaccurate stereo-types.
Someone please tell me that Kevin Curtis and Austin Collie are NOT athletic. Or Dennis Pitta or Jackson Emery or Jimmer Fredette or even the Cougar assasin.....
Henderson something or other....
"people that can't figure out what happened"
you just described 99% of the Utah fans/BYU haters who spam every BYU article
they can only dream of having a player as good as Fredette; the fact that they watch Jimmer play all the time, but are either too blinded by their personal biases or too clueless to see what a great player he is, really says far more about their feeble basketball acumen, than it does about Jimmer
national sportswriters who rarily pay any attention to the MWC are noticing Fredette; that would never have if Jimmer weren't very, very good
Please list the players on Utah or Utah State that you would take over Jimmer. Jimmer crossed over and banged a jumper on every Ute defender that TRIED to gaurd him in the last game and he had a very poor night. His cross over is the best cross over in the conference this year. Utah is the most unathletic team that I have seen in years and what is worse is they are playing like they are riding a roller coaster. I thought the Jim Boylen hire was great at the time but his psycho emotional display is translating into his teams play. They are all over the place just like he is. He needs to sit back take a look at what is going on and get control of things. I bet you could convince Rick to come back if you just have the meeting with him at Chuck-O-Rama. He will agree to anything at that place. He may not do well in the NBA but he will get a chance. Just list 20 or three players from the U show will get a chance. I can think of one.
Jimmy has played well against many teams. Cudoos.
However, put a defensive specialist on him and guess what happens!
At least one loss!
Go Aggies
"put a defensive specialist on him and guess what happens!"
Jimmer still scores, drives and/or dishes. The biggest obstacle Jimmer has faced this season is strep/mono. NOBODY is good enough to shut down Jimmer without paying the price. Guard the 3 closely, and he'll break your ankles with the crossover and drive past you to the basket or a kick to a teammate for an open three. Stay back, and he'll pop the three. Foul him, and he's automatic. Double him and he'll find the open man.
The numbers speak for themselves. The only games Jimmer hasn't scored double figures in, either he was so sick he could barely stand, or Jimmer chose not to shoot, but to create open looks for his teammates.
