P-I-T-T, P-I-T-T, P-I-T-T Let's Go Pitt! Yeah, I go to BYU, but I actually put stock in my hometown team because they win games in the tourney.
New mexico struggled at home to beat Air Force by 3 points yet they moved up 2 spots into the Top 10. That will make it soooo much more fun to beat them at the Marriott Center later this week. Get ready to vacate the top spot in the MWC, Lobos.
The best team in Utah has a 12 game winning streak and beat the cougs.
Today's college basketball news must be mistaken because I don't see utah in the Top 25 and they didn't get any Player of the Week awards. Again.
So how come you lost to the 4th best team in the state? Yes that would be the UofU who lost to Weber and BYU and whose record is 12-14 (5-7). Please explain. And I'm betting your explanation will be very similar to why BYU lost to cheeseville. Good luck, genius.
We still won! Looks like Air Force just came out to play they shot really good that game and had nothing to lose.
Looking forward to beating Sandy Eggo State and New Mexxy Co. this week.
GO COUGARS!!!!!!
If the cougs can come out of this week unscathed, there's a new leader in the MWC, and perhaps solo champ of the MWC. This is the best test of the entire season for this team. Come on cougs!
BYU and New Mexico are NOT top 25 teams, no matter how you analyze it. Come on! Neither the computer nor any select group of coaches or analyists can come up with any such list. Certainly there are no teams west of the Rockies, including New Mexico that can honestly be given any creditability whatsoever for such a ranking. Until there is an elite 100 universities who are designated Division I Super Elite status, and they are regularly schedule each other rather than Bo Diddley Tech, and Mercy State teams to amass gaudy win/loss records this hokus pokus surrade (sp) will continue. All of this influences the NCAA pairings. There is no possible reasoning for letting teams into an elite tournament on the basis of winning some mickey mouse conference as an automatic seed. It's just good old boy just like the BCS football pairings for a mythical championship.....a farce....all of it to pad the coffers of the elitists institutions. Until meaningful changes are made we will continue to argue about it at the proverbial water cooler.
Continued success to BYU, and hopefully Utah can get back to greatness as well. I like the Aggies.
and Lobos
BYU 25-3 #13/#11 #22 RPI #9 Sagarin #5 seed (current)
UNM 25-3 #10/#12 #10 RPI #22 Sagarin #3 seed (current)
It'll be one of the most exciting matchups of the season for the two best teams in the MWC on Saturday and the Marriott Center is already sold out and will be ROCKIN'!
But, the Cougars need to focus completely on the Aztecs first. Even though BYU already beat SDSU in San Diego, the Aztecs are still a dangerous team.
Blah, blah, blah, my utes are not anywhere near the top 100 teams in the country so how can New Mexico and BYU be ranked so high, blah, blah, blah, does anybody have some kleenex so I can wipe away my tears, blah, blah, and blah.
Congrats to USU for beating BYU at home. However, USU is not the best team in the state unless you forgot about your loss to 12-14 Utah.
On the national stage, your 7-5 road record is also nothing to brag about espcially with two of those loses to sub .500 teams Great teams win on the road and don't lose to bad teams anywhere.
Hey Anonymous Infinity,
Get a life! BYU and New Mexico absolutely deserve to be ranked as does Utah State and UNLV. All these schools have played well against schools outside their conferences.
This will be a fun week of basketball as they prepare for their Conference tournaments in two weeks. MWC will get three invitations to the big dance this year. Utah State will get invited with or without the Conference Tournament win.

Are you really as delusional as your post suggests, or are you just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks?
Why do you even bother watching college sports if you have such a jaded view of the world?
Stick with quantum physics or laws of motion if you want something more "scientifically" analyzable and leave analyzing college basketball to those of us who actually understand the game.
BYU and NM are two VERY GOOD teams this year.
UNLV and SDSU are also good.
ANY of those teams from the "weak" (in your misguided opinion) MWC could go toe-to-toe with any of the "big boys" on the East Coast, especially if any of those teams had the guts to visit the Pit or the MC or the T&M or San Diego.
So, Mr. Infinity "know it all" how do Utah, BYU, UNM, Utah State, UNLV etc. convince the Duke's, the Kansas's, the Kentucky's, the UNC's etc. to play? The scheduling staffs at the local schools have stated over and over again that they would like to play all of those schools and they have made pretty good offers with the ability to play a home and home schedule before sellout crowds of 15,000 to 22,000 and good basketball. Problem is the "elite" schools are too busy padding their non-league schedules with "Bo Diddley Tech" and "Mercy State." They are afraid they might get beat if they make a trip out west. The only team that has shown any inclination to come out here and play is Wake Forest and they came in a beat BYU but it was a great game (They also said they did not plan on coming back).
So, you say: "What the local schools have to do is have a winning record, get a good seed and win some games in the post season." The trouble with that is it makes the "elite" schools still say NO H&H.
If USU wants respect, they should try winning more than just rivalry games (in which, by the way, they are 1-1 this year).
As for BYU and New Mexico not being top 25 teams, I'm glad that we'll get a chance to verify that claim in just a few weeks. That is what makes college basketball so satisfying...SOS means less in the polls than on the court.
Lest you forget cougar fans, the aggies lost to utah by 1 without one of their best players, Pooh Williams. I do think the aggies are the best top to bottom team in the stae this year.
cougar fans be careful what you say...you still have to go to the huntsman center in a game that could go either way
if one win makes a season,
then that 1-25 BYU team back in 1997 must have better than Utah State because the Cougars beat the Aggies; BYU's only win of the season
it's no different than Utah fans claiming the Utes are better because they beat the Aggies
for a school that is one of the best in space technology, you'd think Aggie fans would be capable analyzing the whole picture
is a cow like a rope or a wall?
Utah, sure you beat utah state by 1 point. But yew also lost to several teams that are far worse than yew and utah state. So live with it and move on
And BYU was able to beat UTEP, a MUCH, MUCH better team than Utah on the road in El Paso without Jimmer Fredette.
UTEP is ranked #25 in the Coaches poll this week, is 20-5 overall, and leads C-USA with an 11-1 record.
Great teams find ways to win even when they're missing one of their key players.
