Message bills drive me crazy! Especially any bill that is about abortion. I'm sure there are very few abortions in Utah. The attention abortion gets compared to the REAL issues drives me nuts and always end in court battles. In comments on surveys that my person in the legislature sends me, I always comment that they spend time on REAL problems our state has (such as where to cut the budget) rather than items that will just cost us in lawsuits. I am so turned off by any candidate that even mentions abortion.

If message bills are a waste of time and that's the worst of it then I say let them keep trying to send messages. If they are sending stupid messages then they are spending money or making some restrictive law. I would rather have them waste time, then spend money or make more restrictions for the citizens by passing other pieces of foolish legislation.

I agree

This issue is basically one that so many people seem to pay attention to so they can draw attention away from the real issues of our country. Abortion is sad and has been addressed many times. I believe that people are being a lot more responsible with it now and nobody ever mentions that pregnancy ends at least 20% of the time in the first three months anyway (I know because I've had my share of miscarriages). We need to stop juding people based upon their fertility and start facing the many real problems in our country!

That's a no-brainer.

Message bills are an incredible waste of time and money.
