Why has Josh Powell been allowed to rent their home out? Surely the home should have been preserved as a potential crime scene? Bad enough that he was allowed to vanish in a rental car for hours on end, now this.

And does anyone really expect Josh Powell to agree to show up on Dr. Phil?

If he's guilty, then of course he's going to stay away.

If he's innocent, then he's not going to agree to be browbeaten and smeared on national TV.

Ed Smart and his daughter and the rest of their family went through a horrible experience. But that case is over. Ed Smart has no place getting involved publicly in the Powell case.

I know that it is not popular to criticize someone who has showed such determination and faith in grueling circumstances, but Smart's going on national television to comment on how the remaining family members should behave in the Powell case does not seem to be a well-considered thing to do. It smacks of a desire for continued media attention, which has waned since the Smart case was solved. And it does not contribute to solving the case.

The attention that Dr. Phil may bring to the Powell case could prove useful in solving it. (Even if daytime television is a kind of sleazy place to set foot in, it's worth stooping if it provides new leads.)
