Way to go, Eagles! I was just looking at a slideshow from your inaugural season yesterday and thinking what a great gig b-ball was at WRA. Glad to hear you're doing so well. Good luck against ICS!
I thought George Bruce was coaching at West Ridge?
I thought George Bruce was West Ridge's Coach?
Me too. Where has Coach Bruce gone? Anyone know?
As a close follower of the Dugway program I can tell you that Coach Bruce is still at West Ridge as the athletic director and goes to practice and helps in any way he can. I know from watching his teams how disciplined they always were and I know he coached the West Ridge team all the way through the Christmas break. I can only assume that after all the years at one school he struggled with the new environment.
Now WRA has a great coach named coach Keefer Go Eagles good luck on the game friday lets take state boys!!!!!!
I was at this game. It was one of the most exciting games I have ever seen live. Congrats to Coach Keefer! He does a great job. Good luck the rest of the way.
Thanks for all the excitment Eagles. So proud of the effort and for the supportive staff at West Ridge. Can't wait for the next few games.
Great write up about Westridge and I'm looking forward to another exciting match up tonight @ ICS, should be a great game between two evenly matched teams.
West Ridge will win the region championship tonight after they beat ICS
If you were to win tonight, it would certainly put you in the drivers seat considering the rest of the region isn't nearly as good as St Joe and ICS. it's just nice to watch competitive games that mean something
As someone closely involved in Region 17 Basketball, I can tell you that ICS will own this game tonight. While giving credit to WR on their win the other night, I can tell you that St. Joseph lost the game, WR did not do anything amazing to win. If St. Joe would have had it together they would have won handily. Mistakes like the one made with the player not being on the roster are inexcusable and St. Joseph shot themselves in the foot by not converting and taking advantage of a very poor error by WR. ICS will win by at least 10 tonight. If this is not the case, I will gladly come on tomorrow and eat delicious Crow. St. Joe should beat ICS next week and we will once again see a three way tie for 1st at the end of the regular season. Buckle down, its going to be an exciting two weeks in region 17.

Actually the St Joe game @ ICS is the 23rd, ICS plays at Christian Heritage next week. I agree with you in that it's going to be an exciting couple of weeks in Region 17. You really need to win the region to get the best draw in the tournament and avoid either a very tough 1st round game or even worse the play in game
I am eating that crow. Congrats to a great win by WR. They held off a furious 4th quarter by ICS to hang on and win. Congrats to them. Looks as though they again did what they could to win and as a result, looks to have locked up the Region 17 Championship.
I've been a 1A fan for fifty years and would just like to say that I hope coach Bruce is ok. I have watched him over the years and have come to admire him. What a great example of hard work and dedication to kids! I love his firey spirit!
What a great story for the WR boy's basketball team this season. They are an amazing group of young men proving that they can win on and off the court.
Their fight and determination is second to none.
As a parent of a Westridge basketball player, I am inspired by the heart of the Westridge team. Those boys are about everything we hope young people learn through sports. They all have their personal trials, but give everything they have to their team. They put their team above themselves. They cheer each other on and have a will to succeed that is amazing. What a great story - these young men have not grown up together or have similiar backgrounds - they have come together as teammates.
Good job, coaches and team - keep it going!
Will somebody please explain what happened to George Bruce?
As an opponent of West Ridge I can tell you that Coach Bruce is still at West Ridge in the athletic department and is the number one fan of this ball team. He has been at every game and works with them at practice. He voluntarily turned the team over to Coach Keefer after the Christmas break. He and Coach Keefer are good friends and this great team has been the result of a special group of young men coming together as a team, which is really what coach wanted. You can bet he isn't through coaching and will surface on the court somewhere next year. Have a good tournament West Ridge, you earned it.
My son is loving playing for Coach Bruce and Coach Keefer. Together these 2 coaches are teaching these boys a valuable lesson.... how to tap into their potential. Fighting Eagles ROCK!!!!!
