Suggestion to the LDS church media dept. This is a fantastic idea! Why doesn't the church get involved and make a program where the geneology of interesting and well-known people in the US and around the world are explored and revealed to the person. What a great way to increase interest in geneology. What a great way to increase exposure for the LDS church.

Privacy laws.

I am a member of ...

Ancestry.com +++ They have excellent records. I have been with them now for about 4 years. The $cost of being a member has been well worth it for me. I as well, I love their DNA program.

The records involved are public record.

The church has presented family histories to many famous people, including most presidents, etc.

When shows like Matt J suggested (doing research and revealing it to the subject) are done, nothing is aired until consent is given. Research is done through publicly available records, not through spying or diving into potentially damaging personal information. Besides, most of the data collected is about people who have been dead for a century or more.

For example, US Census data is held from the public for 72 years.

I use all the sites available to find information on my ancestors and because of my constant search I am in touch with other members of my lines who also are working to connect - whether LDS or not, they are all good people that I've been in contact with. But then, I'm a convert. I also work on the indexing to further the use of all records for the public, including myself.

Yeah, tryin' to baptize as many dead people as they can... I'm sure the LDS have gotten really good at geneology.

Why does Anonymous worry about the LDS Church baptizing people - alive or dead. If the church is true, people will be blessed. If it isn't true, then it won't count. Go back to sleep!

Where and when will this series be shown?

Cats

Anonymous 7:24 is one of those sad people who hate themselves and in order to make themselves feel better they look for any opportunity to attack the Church. It's really tragic.

Some suggest that the anti-LDS group have a contest to see which one among them can rack up the most responses to their anti-LDS ranting.
They show up in most every article about the church or church members. Often, they are the first few comments listed.
The best way to put them on the bench might be to just ignore them in our comments--we can present the truthful side of their sophistry without using their ID name.
That also seems to be the best way to handle the demonstrators by the sidewalks during General Conference. If someone is ignored long enough, eventually, they'll go away.
However, there is some consolation, knowing they are building testimonies by fulfilling prophecy of the last days (Matthew 5: 11&12)

I wonder - sence we don't have tv in our house if this will be on one of the internet sites or it would be nice if it was picked up by the byu broadcasting site...

Correction: Dr. Gates was not arrested for trying to break into his own home. He was arrested for failing to cooperate with law enforcement officials who responded to what appeared to a concerned neighbor as a potential break-in. The police were simpley doing their job in attempting to protect Dr. Gates' property. He repaid their diligence by using foul language and racial slurs. Dr. Gates never apologized, but his friend, President Obama, hastily arranged a "Beer Summit" as a PR tactic.

I had previously respected Dr. Gates and enjoyed his programs. His display of blantant racism, however, made me cringe with shame. It's too bad he didn't feel the same way.

Rob, I wonder how "belligerent" you would be if you showed two ID's proving that it was your house... and the cops still handcuffed you???
