i got some of this second hand and became very buzzed from it, more than i ever got smoking the real thing
Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, is a first class idiot who does not do his research. Nicotine is the drug that is addictive, but not the drug that does the harm in cigarettes, that is tar and the other chemicals.
I have quit smoking for four months, largely due to electronic cigarettes. Now I only need two or three puffs a day to keep the cravings under control.
Nicotine has been discovered to be good for the heart as well. Of course, nicotine alone doesn't overcome the horrible heath effects of cigarettes, on the heart as well as lungs. And yes, if you managed to absorb massive amounts of nicotine suddenly it could kill, but that wouldn't make it the first thing that is good in moderation, and bad in large amounts.
Do your research before talking, Paul Ray, and certainly before leading people. If you get this passed you will be promoting smoking because I would be forced to go back to regular cigarettes, along with a lot of others, and I don't want that. One you are have quit smoking, you easily crave a cigarette 20-100's of times a day, even after 4 months, and if I didn't have an electronic cig to take a puff of, I wouldn't be strong enough to resist it.
They don't need to ban them completely.
I think they are a good idea.
If they are worried about second-hand Nicotine, then they can restrict them to outdoor only use 20ft away from the entrance to a building like they do cigarettes.
You are still smoking dude and in denial big time at that!...regardless of whether actual smoke is coming out of your device, the point is you have merely eliminated the smoke, tar and other chemicals but you are still ingesting a harmful substance. Just call a spade a spade.
@ Jason you are a fool. The debate right now is heated, but guess what - not among smokers! Basically, those that don't like "smoking" and look at it negatively (and likely always have) could not ever know the perils of daily smoking and the financial and health impacts it makes on individuals in a bad way. How dare those with power try to take away the pursuit of happiness and liberty from the American people. We will prevail! and it won't be half as hard as the marijuana battle.
Smokers have rights, and its their business. The real evil here is socialism, and that's what the government is trying to do by legislating a cigarette.
Paul Ray has it backwards. He nees a law to Ban cigaretts and replace them with the electronic cigarett. That way everyone happy. Only the user of the electronic cigarett suffers the risks. No More second hand Cigarette Smoke.
excuse me, sir, but what does socialism have to do with cigarettes.....? I see no connection. But i'm not paranoid.
What they're worried about is that they haven't found a way to tax the snot out of it yet. If every smoker switched to these things you snon-smokers who rely on our money will have problems.
Representative Ray is looking out for the health of the public. I applaud his efforts. Are we really just supposed to "trust" the makers of e-cigarettes to do what is best for us? E-cigarettes have never been tested for cessation, never been submitted by this "trustworthy" company for FDA testing to ensure safety, and have never been a good step. I guess I am a hardliner for not wanting smokers to switch their addiction to a different product.
Millions of people have successfully quit smoking. The American Heart Association shared a statistic lately in the press, that America has more ex-smokers than we do smokers. That gives people hope. You can do this. You can quit tobacco.
Until the world is tobacco free,

thanks to everyone who has had a voice on the matter, GreenNicotine along with many other companies, and users of the e-cig here in utah have been helping the utah gov. know exactly how important the product is to smokers. it seems the bill has been amended and e cigs will be continued to be sold. rep. Ray has his reasons for trying to stop nicotine from being obtained, after speaking with him, he does understand the desires of adults to want a replacement for real cigarettes. Again, thank you all who spoke up or sent e-mails.
thanks
GN
Still smoking? Harmful substance? No. Nicotine is as harmful as caffeine. Did you know 46 bottles of a popular Energy Drink would kill a 160lbs. person? Water can kill a human being too. Is coffee and water generally seen as a harmful substance? no.
I've been 20 days free of cigarettes thanks to the e-cig and... I suggest you people try it if you currently smoke. What have you got to lose, besides tar, carcinogens, odor, lighters, ashtrays, car-fresheners, gum, attitudes from non-smokers, and inconvenience?
Banning E-cigs is not only reckless but if you do this you "will" Kill people. If you remove Ecigs from the market you force them to go back to using Tobacco which in turn will cost the Government MORE money in the long run because of all the smoking related illnesses. For 5 min Stop being a Politicians and become PEOPLE and THINK... Help Kill People? Or Help People live? Real tough choice...
Just some anecdotal evidence. I smoked for 30 years. I started vaping in May 2009 and haven't had a cigarette since. For me, a miracle.
Would it be better if I eliminated nicotine completely? I'm sure it would be.
Would it be better to stop drinking coffee? Sure.
Would it be better to be a vegetarian? You bet.
Would it be better if I biked everywhere instead of driving? Uh huh.
Legislating morality never works.
Vape on.
Its ridiculous that an unregulated product like E-cigarettes are being allowed to be shipped in from China day in and day out. Nicotine in general is a very dangerous chemical it has a higher Median lethal dose(30mg-60mg depending on weight) then even Strychnine, at least with cigarettes the amount was regulated, with E-cigarette liquid, you can buy it in levels from 48mg-60mg in just 1ml of liquid, essentially they are selling Poison to whoever is willing to pay. Not only is that a deadly level but the FDA has found in limited testing that even if you attempt to purchase it without Nicotine, there will still be traces amounts along with Deadly carcinogins.
At the very least E-cigarettes should be VERY VERY Strictly regulated, at the most? the Dealers and Producers should be hung as terrorist for Distributing a poison
I applaud the Utah legislature for removing the e-cigarette ban and allowing adult smokers to choose a product that drastically reduces the harm caused by smoking.
The American Association of Public Health Physicians states, "We have every reason to believe that the hazard posed by electronic cigarettes would be much lower than 1% of that posed by [tobacco] cigarettes."
That's a very powerful statement by a very informed group. I would suggest that anyone who "disagrees" with it is more concerned with morality than with health or science, and morality issues should be kept separate from those concerning public health.
I have use the e-cigarette for almost 2 years, it is the only thing that keeps me from smoking cigarettes, My husband don't smoke and he loves the e-cigarette,(no stinky house or truck) My doctor is very happy with the improvement in my health. For the first time in 10 years I actually have good Cholesterol and my over all cholesterol is within the normal range. I could share more but this little box is too small. Please get the real facts before you start taking away my right to LIVE, because if I keep smoking cigarettes I am going to die. Nicotine actually has benefits that no one whats to hear about in the USA, because they think nicotine is evil. It is tobacco smoke that is killing people.
I want to let everyone out there know how easy it was for me to get off of traditional cigarettes by switching my smoking habit to vaping (e-cigarette). Vaping does not involve any inhalation of tobacco smoke, instead it is a much healthier liquid vapor that is inhaled that contains no known carcinogens.
It's a no brainer that vaping is healther than inhaling traditional combustible tobbacco smoke. Real tobbacco smoking kills 37,000 people a year here in Canada. E-cigarettes simulate the pleasures of smoking without the majority of the 4000
chemicals found in the combustion of regular tobacco and without the 50 priority-listed know toxicants found in traditional cigarette smoke.
dk
Please understand that the liquid that is vaporized and inhaled through an e-cigarette only contains 4 or 5 ingredients way less than the 4000 chemicals produced in the traditional combustion of regular cigarettes. E-cigarettes contain no smoke, no tar, no carcinogenic compounds; this makes the e-cigarette a much more safer and healthier option for those addicted to nicotine than smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes.
As you are probably aware by the number of emails you're receiving on this topic many people have quit tobacco smoking by using e-cigarettes. Please do not ban this product and force nicotine addicts to go back to using the well know killer that is tobacco cigarettes. Please embrace the e-cigarette as the healthier alternative to traditional tobacco smoking and show your residents that you care for their well being.
