This is the 3rd auto-pedestrian accident in this neighborhood since I moved in 18 months ago.....When are people going to start paying attention?

Thoughts and prayers | 9:56 a.m. Feb. 8, 2010
May this young woman and her family receive the comfort, peace, and healing, that they so desperately need. May those surrounding this family and her friends at Brockbank be comforted. I add my thoughts to all the other silent prayers.

Thank you Pat R. I wish I could release the name of the girl. She is minor and I would need the parents' permission to do so. I texted them, but they have so much more to worry about right now.

Please know that the student has been taken to the hospital and is in good care. She is still in critical condition, and it is really up to God right now. Thanks for your concerns, and I will let you know if I am given permission.

Please know that accidents happen, and that although we should ALL pay more attention to driving thru crosswalks, it appears that the young girl had the right of way. The family only knows what is posted online. We are still awaiting the information from the accident. Please keep everything positive and uplifting, as that is what both families need (the person driving and the person who got hit). Thank you to all.

The girl was hit in the crosswalk at 8600 West, not 8500 West. AirMed picked her up in the parking lot between 8500 and 8400 West. Residents of Magna: We clearly need to work with the town council to get a pedestrian flashing light at that crosswalk, it scares me each time I turn that corner. It should not take another life lost to get action on this. Please, is anyone listening? SKS

SKS do you know when the next council meeting is? We can prepare for the meeting by getting signed petitions started at the four schools that are fed from that neighborhood. Magna Elememtary, Pleasant Green Elementary, Brockbank Junior High school and Cyprus High School. I am sure these schools officals would participate to keep their students safe.

How sad. I can only imagine the anguish of everyone involved. We hit a dog in our neighborhood and that was horrific. I cannot imagine hitting a child. My prayers are with all involved. May they find peace and may this young girl have a speedy and complete recovery.

There is no such term as "Extremely critical condition", it is a term created by TV dramas. The Dnews should know better.

I stop | 10:19 p.m. Feb. 8, 2010
at crosswalks and the vehicles behind me go around. It's terrifying to see them nearly hit a person because they are impatient.
It's not about signage, or carelessness, it's about selfishness.
I wish young girl well --

Of course it has to do with signage. She was hit in the crosswalk. Did she stop before walking onto the crosswalk? There seem even less details with this report than the first.

Obviously if so many accidents happen there it's not obvious who has the right of way.

Well, it's a crosswalk. The pedestrian has the right of way. Don't say it isn't obvious who has the right of way. If you don't know who has the right of way at a cross walk, don't drive, that's why we have crosswalks.

The kids at Brockbank are suffering from many tragedies this week. The misery filling those halls at this moment is suffocating. We are all praying for them!
