So true. Thanks for being willing to write the truth! I wonder how long 'they' will even allow common sense to be spoken?

Being an economist, Thomas Sowell must know who fuzzy economic data is. If he were to gather the data and provide a report, odds are that his numbers would be just as obtuse. Perhaps it is really an instance of just who is providing the data. If it is a Democratic administration, the numbers are "false" and if it is a Republican administration, the numbers are "true". However, the numbers in both instances are exactly the same, gathered and prepared by the same agency.

This is just another in the history of Thomas Sowell beating the conservative drum regardless of the information presented. We can count on what he will say long before he says it. He is basically a mouthpiece for his partisan paymasters, carrying their water like a good trooper.

That he's all hype

Himself

Is the economy a zero sum game or does it have the potential for growth? Dr S. argues the former, so the way to improvement is eliminating minimum wage and health insurance for the sick. The insurance aspect is already in place with no noticeable affect on the recession. I doubt reducing wages to $3 per hour will either.

The insurance companies don't want to cover the conditions because the greedy CEOs want 7 figure salaries & want John Q. Taxpayer to pick up the tab.

@Karl

Being just another reasonable American citizen thats worried about the out-of-control spending of this administration and the last; I think its time we stop bickering about the "R's" and the "D's" and tell our representatives to stop the unwarented and unprecidented spending spree they are on! You are and economist and must know that our economy can't handle more of the insane spending bills that have wrought so much damage to our country over the last 6 years and especially the last year.
Will reasonable people stand up and say "enough!" Our children and grandchildren deserve better.

Tell that to Thomas Sowell. The bickering and avoidance of the problems that face this nation are less important than their simplistic opinions.

As for the deficit, it can be paid up easily when the economy rebounds and taxes can be collected. Also, we need solid financial reform with the banking industry so our children and grandchildren don't get dinged for the rest of their lives. Also, let's get healthcare reform through so our children and grandchildren will have a healthy life without being at mercy of a greedy health insurance industry.

"as for the deficit, it can be paid up easily when the economy rebounds and taxes can be collected." Did you really just write that? That has to be the most simplistic opinion I have ever read on this forum. This is no ordinary deficit, we are living in an extraordinary time when people and the government seem to think that borrowing large amounts of money will be "easily" repaid. Give me a big time break!
