I hope sometime soon the state will get the funding allocated to build this new building. It is true, there is so much that the school has that we can't use because there isn't place for it yet. Though I will be graduating in a year and won't be there to have the new building, it's still a need for a campus of 28,000 students+.

bad info

All UVU students seeking a BA or BS are required to take 3 science courses, for a total of 9 credits (not 2 like the article says). One biological science, one physical science, and additional course from either. As of Fall 2009 there were 28,482 students.

I think the LDS church ought to step up and use the tithing money the students and parents of students at UVU pay that is allotted to BYU. The church could donate that money to UVU instead. Those students deserve the same facilities that BYU students have the luxury of attending complements of LDS members tithing money. Maybe they should consider donating to all of the Utah schools that have a high percentage of paying tithing members.

Think again Anonymous! The LDS Church or any other church is under no obligation to pay for any school that a member of their church attends. Some Churches choose to fund a church owned schools which is set up for those who want to live up the their standards and pay tuition. Tithing money is just that, tithing. Just because LDS people attend UVU doesn't mean that school should have a share of the tithing funds. If that were the criteria, then you are also saying that each college an LDS Student goes to, the church would therefore have to support that school too. That said,do you have any idea how much money the LDS church does donate to various schools and charities. I think not! Instead of pointing at a church to support a state run college or university, you could join the efforts to help raise the money in a constructive way.
