Thanks for food snack for a SuperBowl Sunday=

Hoosier

I'm fairly new to the state (4 years), so I can't say that I know anythink about the breaded pork sandwich, but if you're coming to a Super Bowl party here in Indiana, you'd better bring something for the "pitch-in" (potluck).

Boudreaux

Are you kidding me???? Popcorn or Gumbo. No contest.

And they left out 90% of the good stuff that we have in New Orleans. And you wonder why there is an obesity problem here.

Did you say GUMBO!!

A cajun treat for us to visit a slice of Gumbo NewOrleans recipes :p

I have tried to keep avocado from going brown by covering it with plastic wrap right on top touching and it turns brown in a matter of hours. What is the secret of keeping it green?

avocado

One hint is to put the avocado pits in the guac.

Lime juiceadds fresh AvocadoDip

Try this?
Its happened to my Avocado Gucamole Dip.
Yet eat it right away
Dont let it sit in fridge too long.

Baked Muffaletta???

I have never in my life heard of baked muffaletta. The olive salad (or tapenade) is usually put next to the bread and the whole sandwich is weighted down until the olive oil and other juices from the tapenade soak into the bread - yummy!

Keeping guacamole green

I have heard lots of theories on how to keep quacamole green. The bottom line is that it is highly perishable and no matter what you do will turn brown after a period of time. Best thing I have tried is to stir a little bit of Fruit Fresh (citric acid) into the quacamole and/or sprinkle it lightly on top, then cover with plastic wrap. The best thing is to make it the day of, because no matter what you do it will start to turn brown by the next day.

Add some Lime Juice on Avocado

Well try this!
Dont let it sit there in Fridge Make FRESH ";"

How about...

banning guacamole from all Super Bowl parties. The stuff is disgusting both in taste and looks. Keep it in California.

Richard

I'm going out to eat at a nice restaurant during the game. None of my family can stand American football so we'll enjoy a nice quiet dinner out.

I'll keep the guacamole tips for the World Cup this summer. Now THAT is something we won't miss!

Must be

all girls in the family.

I wonder if anyone missed the obvious. The food will be excellent. The chance to have a fun afternoon with delicious snacks is definitely an attractive offer, but the fact remains that someone at Deseret News is promoting watching football on Sunday. I suppose the old excuse of "Well, if you are going to watch it anyway, here are some delicious recipes", could fit here, but....hmm.
I will probably be watching it too, but, I was surprised that the editors allowed an article that encourages watching football on the Sabbath. We all need to be just a little more committed, I guess. Myself included.

Dennis, you are kidding right?

Well, I missed the obvious. I'm fairly certain you were the only one who didn't? Are you surprised when the Deseret News publishes recipes that may be high in fat or even worse caffeine? Do you see the irony? Everything in moderation there Dennis...

Well.........

True, some things in moderation, but ....some things in total abstinence. Right?

Re: Must be

No, all real atheletes. Not overweight men who need breaks every ten seconds to catch their breath.

REAL football doesn't have time outs.

Look at all the food being touted here. Do you think any serious athletes would touch the stuff. That is why American football is just a spectator sport. Extremely few people play after high school. Every medium sized US city has a men's adult REAL football league though.
