He can spend all he wants, but those of us who have played close attention know that it's time for Bennett to come home and retire. He's well passed retirement age and I believe he's lost touch with those he represents - too much time in Washington will do that to the very best of Senators.

Bennett is cross between Montgomery Burns and Lord Palpatine. Please lets vote this clown out of office. He is a joke and needs to be put out to pasture. Let vote some new and with some Energy to get things done for Utah.

I agree, Melissa. Bennett has been there too long. He does not represent his constituents on the nuclear waste issue. Can we get all these old guys out and get in new leaders that will pass a term limits bill? I dare to dream...

Gary Anderson

Too bad he spent all his money, He's still going to lose. His time has come to step down and bother us no more.

THE

age of the dinosaurs are over.Hello bennett, can you hear us???"Don't keep insulting UTAH".

Here! Here!

Both of them need retirement. The sooner the better, to start regaining control of our life in Washington, instead of supporting someone's habit. They both are so dependent on the public dole that they have clearly lost touch with reality.

Sterling

Please no more "Bailout Bob". We need a conservative in Washington. NOT someone who supports amnesty for illegals, and MANY special interests.

George

Big spending from a big spending Washington elite...so what else is new? Bennett thinks he will win via spending more in the campaign...It has worked elsewhere; I hope this time We The People will vote him out!

Big Biz

Ahhh, you people in Utah are sooo cute, you actually thought he worked for you didn't ya? Sorry but nope!

Ole uncle Bob's worked for us for quite some time now and he's doing a fine job of rubber stamping our agenda. But it's still cute, I just love you people .... please send him back.

Thank you!

Go Away Bob

As a member of the finance committee, Bob is responsible in part for the whole collapse. He should have been watching the ship.

Now we learn Bob is getting most of his money from those same banks he let play fast and loose with the rules. I've always believed Bob was just too old to keep up with the Wall Street shenanigans, but now it looks like he may have looked the other way.

Well, no more. It is past time for Bob to retire. If he stops spending campaign money now he'll be able to keep what he's got and stick it in his already bloated bank account.

I WILL NOT VOTE FOR BOB BENNETT!!

JOHN

I can't wait to go vote against him! Spend all the money you want. I don't think it will matter. Your going to lose!

Dixie Dan

Utah needs to vote out all incumbents!

Grover

I am hoping for $700K we should be able to get better than the sophmoric pap he peddled 6 years ago (i.e. "aerodynamic" with a picture of his bald head on billboards). This is really beginning to look like this is the end for big Bob. If these are the comments in the DNews, imagine what the rest of Utah is saying.

Stop the hatred!

Man, the vitriol is flowing here! I can't believe the name-calling and hatred that's going on here. Bob Bennett has represented Utah well in the Senate. He has always placed Utah's interests first. I have worked with both Senators extensively, and if my office needed something, we called Bennett first.

I am also a state delegate. I have spoken with Bob personally about some of his votes that I disagreed with. I appreciate his candor and his explanations--I now understand where he was coming from. I urge all Utahns to do the same. Listen to him and then make up your own mind about him. But no matter what you decide, please be civil and respectful. Bob has earned at least that.

Also, remember the ultimate goal -- returning Congress to the Republicans. I believe Bennett gives us the best chance to do that. It will be much easier for the Dems if it is an open seat.

Term Limits

Its time for a change. It is also going to be interesting to see how things shake out at the state convention. If I had a crystal ball, I'd say Bennett's best chance at the convention is to come in as #2 with the leader less than 60%. But don't be surprised if a challenger to Bennett gets the 60% needed at the convention. I intend to be part of that 60% against Bennett.

Nothing personal Bennett

But I think it is time for all of you long time Hill people to pack it in. Why not change your title and become a missionary. I hope to see a whole bunch of the old timers gone on both sides of the ticket. It is time for new blood and stop the same ole, same ole.

I sincerely hope that Bennett is not able to buy this election again. IMO he is out of touch with ordinary Utahns and their interests. It would be wise to remember that in the voting booth, each of our votes counts just as much as, say, Steve Creamer's, despite his money. Take the time to research each candidate before casting your vote - it's important!

I will not vote for Bennett in any case. I hope someone else bests him in the convention or at least wins the Republican primary. I'd like to vote for a Republican as I cannot stand what the Democrats are doing in Washington. However, I will not vote for Bennett because of various reasons. I am totally disenchanted. We can do better and I am looking forward to hearing more from those running against him.

Look at the donors

Only 1% of his money coming from Utah. That ought to tell you something.
Bennett has survived this long by protecting special interests.
Then there is Bennett's rider to the farm bill, protecting the church when they sent out illegal aliens.
Except, it really didn't help the poor sap who got caught in the Cincinnati airport.
But that's OK. The church is safe.
Shame on you for playing that game, Bob Bennett.

I am sorry to see that another Senator is having to spend huge amounts of the taxpayers money to try and save his hide to stay in office. I just wish that the people who speak out of one side of their mouths about honesty and integrity would make their actions speak louder than their words. I would think that the good people of his district would send him back to Washington as long as he wished to serve if he would just actually serve the people who placed their trust in him and voted for him in the first place. I am sorry to see that he has become involved in the Washington political game and has become entwined in the prestige and the power and lost sight of why he is really there and who put him there, it may be time to replace him and elect a new person with new and fresh ideas and one who will listen to what the people who elected him actually want and need.
