Hilarious column.

But I'm at the point now that if any dog of mine does not eat, it's straight to the vet! No kidding.

Actually Anne, dogs will eat fruit - if it's the right kind, picked from the vine. Years ago my Great Danes would stroll out in the AM to pick their daily dose of grapes in my dad's small vineyard. He didn't realize just how much they ate till the pickers showed him all the empty bunches, neatly picked clean of grapes. The expression on the dogs' faces the morning after the harvest was priceless! And fat! They really made out like bandits!

List of things my dog eats, with his own food being the last possible option:

Toilet Paper
Nerf Darts
Crayons
Play Doh
Glass Christmas Tree Bulbs
Rubberbands
Blankets
Feminine Products
His own barf
Rotted bagel, rotted anything
Flowers
Corn Dog sticks
Foam
rubber bouncy balls

You get the idea. So yes, why does he prefer these assumed non-edibles to something dogs sing about and pant about on commercials? Plus, it's beefy flavored.

I haven't a clue why ANYONE would want to run for president in 2012. An ongoing economic mess, 2 wars, a debt we will NEVER repay, defecits that would make a drunken sailor blush (and I am a US Navy veteran), unlimited attack adds (thanks Supreme Court), reporters with hourly news deadlines (no time for fact checking, if this is a concern).

Don't give in Ann they'll eat it and they'll like it !... it might take a few days but they'll eat it. Don't give them anything else and they'll eat it eventually.

Francie

Haha, Cali LOVES fruit and would make a real mess of a fruit basket.

FYI - Changing the main ingredient of your dog's diet (brand of dry dog food) should be done gradually and over a period of at least four days (preferably longer).

How gradual is gradual?
On the first day, you should have plenty of the old dog food left. Add three quarters of their old food, and one quarter of the new food. You should do this for at least two days. After two days or so, add in another quarter, so you have half old food, half new food. Again, keep it at this level for another two days or so. Then add in a third quarter (one quarter old, three quarters new), and finally you can phase out the old food completely.

What happens if you don't do it gradually?
Stomach Cramps
Heartburn
Indigestion
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Refusal to Eat

Who's washing your hair? We think another column(as long as you are repeating subject material) about hair washing would be appropriate, since the last one was hysterical.

I loved your first question. I love Diana Wynn Jones too. I have no idea why she's not as popular as JK Rowlings (who I also like)
