Boise St. beats Oklahoma. Utah crushes Pitt. Utah crushes Alabama. Georgia
crushes Hawaii. Non BCS schools vs. BCS schools in BCS games? Non BCS 3 wins,
1 loss. Maybe Mr. Hatch is right and the "big boys" are actually afraid of--and
unfairly suppressing--the "little boys." The fact that TCU and Boise St.
weren't allowed to play Automatic Qualifiers this year makes it look that way.
Oh, and if I remember correctly, Boise St. started the season beating Oregon.
BYU beat Oklahoma. And the list goes on...
Tired of all the whinning. The major bowls are awesome. The mwc crybabies are
doing more damage to the sport than the BCS has ever done. Let it go!
About time! Money and power in the hands of a few that have elitist views is
Play a real schedule and those little schools won't be unbeaten and in the
discussion. You have it better playing in your minor league. The results prove
it. And don't ever blame Obama or a Dem for not being focused on our country's
needs. This certainly isn't creating jobs for anyone. Way to help improve our
BYU still wouldn't get to a BCS game.
I too believe that this issue is long overdue to be corrected. For those
comments that don't agree.... I'll bet that the vast majority would be from
those schools that ALREADY benefit from the way it is NOW structured. Thanksto
Sen. hatch for the courage to bring it forward. from what i have been able to
witness this is one of the few decent politicians that we still have left. I
have heard of many items that he has actually done in a NON-PARTISAN way. The
bottom line is that all of the schools should have the chance for a level
playing field!! And I am not talking of the surface of the turf either
like ruining our healthcare system? The government is the king of
wasted time; does "6 to 8 weeks" ring a bell?Investing a corrupt,
multi-billion dollar industry that affects millions of Americans is a
responsibility of government.
The only way the system will change is through government intervention
unfortunately. There are very powerful people who would stand to lose a lot of
money if the system was changed. All of the Universities in Utah have lost
millions of dollars as a result of this system. If this was any other
anti-trust investigation (they happen all the time) no would pay attention and
you wouldn't hear the "the government has better things to do" line.
long overdue! Kudos to Senator Hatch and president Obama!
Finally, the correct thing to strive for. Any true sportsman believes there
should be fairness and level out the playing field. While the BCS conferences
get richer and get more money for their conferences, the non-BCS schools get
poorer and get less funds for scholarships, facilities, and misc. expenses. If
you remember back when the BCS was formed, it was done quickly overnight in
order to "sucker punch" the schools the "good-old boys" didn't want to have in
their exclusive club. This BCS underhandedness is the reason for an anti trust
law suit that is long overdue.
How do you party line this, seems both conservatives and liberals are involved.
Didn't know standing up for what is blatantly right could ever be wrong.
The system is unfair and specific teams that do nothing year in and year out
(LIKE, Iowa St, Duke, Baylor, etc.) have built in benefits because they are
apart of the BCS. For example, these universities are tax exempt, receiving
taxpayer money, and BCS money. They receive well above what teams like Boise
and Utah receive even though Boise and Utah have better programs. The Feds
should look into this. Why should public universities that are tax exempt not
receive the same benefits of others? It is a anti-trust issue. I don't want my
Fed taxes going to these schools because they already receive proportionately
greater funds than nonBCS schools.
I agree with Hatch's assessment of fairness and think that the BCS should go as
well. I just hate the fact that the government needs to get involved in this to
make this happen.
Now there's a waste of time and money. Right up the Obama alley. Spend our
dollars on high priority items such as this. I wonder if he feels our pain as
much as boy Clinton did. No matter, come November he and his party will feel
the pain. Happy days for the USA, but too late for them and their
"solutions"..... the same ideas openly endorsed by the Communist Party of
Please do not waste your time on the BCS right now, there are countless other
more important things to be worrying about and spending your time with. Please
find one of these more important items and focus your time on that.
This is great news! It is about time that the Bogus Corrupt System is brought to
justice. To all of you out there that say the our leaders have more
important things to do, you need to realize that many states and universities
are losing millions over this corrupt system. The U of U just received a huge 30
million dollar donation towards a dental school, but can't make it work because
of lack of state funding going forward. This is great news, and its
This is phenomenal news! Theft and anti trust are legitimate issues, and that
is what the BCS is. Great job senator. Football is not stupid, and is a huge
part of communities nationwide.
this is much more than a game. before anybody feels inclined to comment, you
must realize that we're talking MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars being pushed
around by a cartel (the BCS). this is a governmental issue because it is a
cartel and its the job of the government to break up cartels and monopolies to
protect the public and promote fair business. so before you whine
about the government's involvement, just know that this is a LAW that they're
enforcing, and not just a bunch of men flexing their muscles to modify college
football. the BCS needs to go, not only to be fair to the teams
involved, but also to the universities who earn MILLIONS of dollars for their
school. this is a business, not just a game.
Surely the Senator has more important things to do--like health care, terrorism,
taxes, immigration--that to worry about a stupid football game? I guess
