What about "HUMAN" society, nothing worth helping? It's easy to help your fellow "PET", I guess? Let's fix the human problem. Then we can take care of the "WORLD".
It's nice of the people who also think of animals when it comes to charity work.
Helping pets DOES help humans! One example that quickly comes to mind is efforts by the Humane Society and other animal groups to vaccinate dogs in the developing world so that they don't spread rabies to people. Also, efforts to reduce factory farming of animals for meat helps reduce the spread of diseases like bird flu and swine flu and mad cow disease.
Its great that the price of seal pelts is down and fewer seal pups are being killed in Canada. Seals have enough on their plate with climate change and over-fishing, they don't also need to be clubbed and shot for their fur. Hopefully these celebrities coming to Sundance will learn more and decide not to buy and wear fur.
