The beauty of critics is their opinions, my opinion is that Jeff had made his mind up about a movie then forced his "UNBEARABLE" and "UN-CALLED-FOR" comments on us all. Maybe it is R rated, maybe its not for the light hearted but here we have a great plot, great actors and a great film. I remeber critics telling us not to see Close Encounters way back when... they soon changed their mind and yes this movie will never be Oscar material but then again neither are most films.

And I don't think his problem was that it's R-rated, seeing as how his favorite movie was the R-rated "Into the Wild". And considering that he's given positive reviews to plenty of R-rated movies (including "intense" ones like "Sin City" and others of its sort.)

Maybe he just honestly thought it was no good. That doesn't mean others can't have a differing opinion, but to believe that, because he disagreed with you, he must have not really been watching the film or already have had his mind made up before watching it - is kind of silly. Two equally intelligent people can come away from the same film with wildly differing opinions.

For instance, I thought this film was pretty bad. An interesting premise that completely fails to do anything interesting. That doesn't mean I think anyone who disagrees is missing something - just that they have a different opinion. It's as simple as that. No need to come up with ulterior motives or other explanations as to why they disagree with you. (And this applies to opinions about any art form, not just film.)
