This is a great follow-up to the original film. It is a
good lesson on some of the history of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints and it will play on several
emotions. A tissue handy might be a good idea. With all
the persecution the Church got in its early days, it
really is a miracle it ever made it out of its infancy and
has grown into the global Church that it is today.
Jonathan Scarfe and Eric Johnson are outstanding! I also
really thought the part of Jessica was played well by
Emily Podleski. I haven't read the Work and the Glory
books but the movie is fast-paced like they're trying to
fit in too much story in too short of a movie. I wish
they would've elaborated some scenes. There is some good
use of humor here and there. But I really didn't like
Andrew Bowen as Brigham Young. But this is an overall
great movie. I was thoroughly touched and entertained.
There are many beautiful backgrounds that complement the
touching scenes. The ending comes too soon and leaves you
waiting for the 3rd movie. Some violence on and off the
screen may be too much for some younger kids. And
speaking of younger kids... if you bring little ones to
the movies and they start fussing, please don't argue with
them for 10 minutes; just TAKE THEM OUT!!

This movie was better than the first. Inspiring and
touching. The acting was wonderful and believable.

I have read the books and I did see the first movie. My
initial reaction to seeing The Work and the Glory, American
Zion was: WOW! That was better than the first one! It also
went by very fast and ended suddenly; it left me wanting
more. I thought the acting by Benjamin Steed and Joseph
Smith were especially amazing. I can hardly wait for the
next one!

I am grateful to live in a time when the wonderful story
of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is
portrayed in such a convincing and believable manner. The
characters are all cast so well, and this movie along with
the first one brings the Spirit of the Restoration right
into the theatre. Thank you Gerald Lund and all the others
that provide us with such wonderful cinema!
