Brigham City was the only Mormon movie I thought was just okay. I liked the murder mystery concept though the ending was predictable. I'm not really a fan of Mormon movies (Especially such abominations as The singles ward, The R.M. and the Best two years(more like the worst two hours) But I think Dick Dutcher has potential as a mainstream filmaker, especially after Fallen and I look forward to his Evil Angel.
I thought this was a very good movie, 3.5 stars. I think it did well showing the dual roles that many have in the Mormon world and how these roles such as bishop/sheriff or whatever often overlap. The cast was believable, the performances from Dutcher and Brimley were spot on. I also liked that the ending wasn't necessarily happy which gave it a real sense of reality.
I also thought it was good. I liked Singles ward, the RM and Best Two Years and wondered how "Anonymous" can consider himself such a talent afficionado to pass judgement on these as abominations. They were light, enjoyable, glimpses into our sometimes isolated and misunderstood world.
