I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It's intelligent and
literatealthough it's too obviously a filmed playand it
demonstrates that a fine movie can be made without profanity
or jokes about sex and other bodily functions. After seeing
"The Winslow Boy" and "The Spanish Prisoner" I'm looking
forward to David Mamet's next

A splendid, well-crafted stage play effectively transferred
to the screen. How enjoyable to see intelligence and wit
at
the cinema. The British seem to have a corner on this sort
of thing. I would that it were not so.

While the movie started out slow--"Do you really want to
keep watching it?"--and never did pick up speed, it did
quickly pick up quality. Superb acting, good
cinematography, and a wholesomeness not flaunted, made
this an enjoyable evening.

I haven't watched the movie but the play by Rattigan is
simply marvellous.
