I think it was the bomb! I love Leo Di Caprio and he played
Arnie so well

Gilbert is portrayed as a decent human being which is
unusual for modern day films.Sure his uneasyness towards
his mothers weight does show through at times, but the way
he supports his family and fathers Arnie forces you to
believe that he wants what is best for the Grapes. His
selflesness is truly portrayed when Becky asks him "What do
you want in life Gilbert?"To which he replies "A new house
a new brain for Arnie, maturity for Ellen and aerobics
classes for Mama."
All jovialness that is brought up in this film ebbs away
without reaching any pitch of intensity, this low key slice
of life drama really unleashes its potential through the
theme that you can't always get what you want.

This was the first movie that I have actually watched in
weeks. I was drawn to it the minute it started. I loved the
acting of all the characters, and the whole pace of the
movie was great.

My absolute favorite movie. If you like to cry at films,
pick up this one. Performances are outstanding all
around. You root for everyone. No bad guys in this movie.

I felt that What's Eating Gilbert Grape, was a sensitive ,
funny, dramatic, romantantic, and hope raising movie, about
life. Life not too beautiful to be real. Not a perfect
life, just what this one young man has been dealt and his
method of dealing with it. His strong sense of family as
imperfect as they are, and his responsibility to them is
inspiring. Something that the North American Continent has
much to learn about.

The movie is a tale of a young man, playing the role of a
rural Atlas. He carries the weight of his own world on his
shoulders. It's a world full of problems that Gilbert
tries to hold together. But his world begans to crumble.
It's a movie that tugs on the strings of your heart. It's
original, and memorable. A classic in its own right.

I thought the movie was great I just have a question: In
the movie the use of color plays a hidden meaning. All of
the "new" things and "outsiders" are very bright and
colorful, such as the Burger Barn, Becky, the time Gilbert
spends with Becky. Was this a purposeful meaning in the
movie or did it just happen accidently?
