trainspotting is a fantastic, brilliant movie. its funny
tragic and horrific all at the same time and it works
great.
i was shocked to read your review of this movie. you said
the characters are not likeable and that the people do not
care if they live or die, and thats false. those characters
are so likeable that they become antiheros that people
love.
mark renton is a character that real movie people will
forever remember. the same with spud, sick boy and of
coarse
begbie. the five characters that play in the movie are one
of the best cast that a movie in a long long time
produced,.
ewen mcgregor is one of the best if not the best actor
right
now. robert carlyle continued his brillint perfomance in
trainspotting in maymbe even a better perofance for himself
in the full monty. but trainspotting is such a great
story,.
it touches people right in the heart. but maymbe sir, you
as
an american cannot understand the great scottish humor. or
maymbe you did not like the movie becasue they laugh at
your
preamitve country America that is. i really do hope that
you
will write me an email as an answer becasue as a movie
critic you should be open to everything and trainspotting
is
one of the better films in this decade and myambe even the
history of films but with this statment i am pushing it a
little. danny boyle was brilliant in directing this film,.
its very hard to make such a wonderfull movie, out of even
a
better book,. not a lot of people can do that.

please sir write me as soon as you have a free time

cheers., mate.

Although I rank this movie only a half-star higher than Jeff
Vice, I think my disposition is significantly different. To
me, three stars means a movie that I liked, but I wouldn't
watch repeatedly (i.e. once a month, once a week, etc). All
of Mr. Vice's objections to the movie seemed to indicate he
more or less missed the point. Really, in what way do you
expect a bunch of heroin junkies to be likeable? For once we
have a movie that shows just how unglamorous their lives can
be at times, and what price they pay for the pleasure of an
intravenous orgasm. And yet we manage to find humor in their
misfortunes, if only because they are self-inflicted to some
degree. I can understand objecting to pointless vulgarity,
but in this movie, accusing its profanity, sex, and drug use,
is like calling a retarded kid for double-dribble. What did
you expect from an R-rated movie about heroin addiction?

Jeff Vice, let's his emotions and core beliefs get in the
way of good judgement when it comes to movie reviews.
He's arrogant, yet pretends not to be.

Get rid of this 20 child breeding, 15 wife having fool and
get somebody who knows what they're talking about.

Contrary to what this reviewer says I found all of
Trainspotting's characters likeable. Sickboy and Spud were
total legends. Even Robert Carlyle's terrifying portrayal of
Begbie is highly quotable.

An insanely good movie. This reviewer has an unlikeable
head.

Im sory to say this, but your reviewer simply does
not "get" this film. "sabotages a promising job interview
with a prospective employer" The character spends an
afternoon planning how he is going to make he sure he does
not get the job and continues signing on. "Renton shoots
up immediately after he finds out a friend's baby has
died" To portray his addiction, to show how their lives
start on a downward spiral. "Renton manages to get
involved, sexually, with a 14-year-old schoolgirl" If you
had of payed attention then you would have realised he is
being blackmailed by said 14 year old girl to be sexually
inviolved with her. "an alcoholic who's on the run from
the police" He is not an alcoholic but someone who gets
off on violence, to further show how low his life is
getting. "including a devastating Sean Connery impression"
Sick Boy, known as "shimon" to his friends, is obbessed by
James Bond, and made fun of for his accent. Basically, its
deliberstly poor.

And, as for vulgar, i watched at the age of 14, and found
it a stunning piece of work. Absolutly amazing and
relatable from my situation.

thanks xxx
