This movie represents nearly everything that is wrong with
our culture at this stage in our cultural decay, but that
isn't why I disliked it.>:) The people that watched it 400
times make me sick, as does the morally vapid message that
this film puts accross as gospel.

That this movie beat out movies like Good Will Hunting, L.A. Confidential, or As Good As It Gets for Best Picture is almost a bigger tragedy than the story of the ship itself. Don't get me wrong, Titanic was a good movie, but by no means is it the outstanding film the public seems to think it is. While it was inevitable that one of the greatest tragedies in human history was bound for the silver screen, and Cameron did do a good job with the history aspect, the dialogue was often rediculously melodramati

(Make that 2.5 stars.) I'm probably one of the few people in the U.S. who didn't LOVE 'Titanic' and I realize I am submitting this review at great risk to my life. Yes, the full mock-ups of the ship were incredible, as was the 'wreck set' that the divers were exploring. However, I've seen better stories about star-crossed lovers (i.e. 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'West Side Story' to name a couple). Leonardo DeCaprio and Kate Winslet had a good chemistry, but the couldn't hold their own again

I think Titanic was an excellent movie for these reasons: 1.The movie was based on hard facts 2.Kate Winslet was an excellent actress who helped recreate it 3.Leonardo DiCaprio did an excellent job as Jack 4.Leonardo DiCaprio's gorgeous looks helped alot I know that other people don't have my same opinion but I just felt like sharing mine.If you would like to share your opinion with me I'd appreciate it.So if so,e-mail me. I've got to hand it to Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio though.

This is definitely the best film-making I've seen in a while. It's visually stunning. The problem is that instead of focusing on either the actual facts of the crash or on the film's characters, the film attempts to do both, and in the end they both get cheated. The characters are one-dimentional with not enough developement, and the real events are overshadowed by this rather predictable plot.I would have liked to have seen more about the real passengers of Titanic and their stories, which wo

Even after the 5th viewing I find this marvelous film to be
thoroughly enchanting and enthralling. My hearty
congratulations to Mr. Cameron, cast and crew! This is
film making at its finest.

Titanic was a very sobering movie which caused me to think
about what is really important to me. Although it was a
very good film, I can't really classify it as
"entertaining". While it had great elements, I came out
just feeling really sad for those people. I also don't feel
that it was Best Picture. I would certainly have chosen
Good Will Hunting. Nonetheless, I'm glad that I saw it, but
probably won't watch it again.

I think it was one of the best movies I ever saw. Leonardo
is a great actor and my personel favorite. Rose was played
by an excellent actress. Although the movie did have some
bloopers, lie the lake that hadn't formed yet. they didn't
have t.v.so Jack couldn't have seen a man kiss a womans hand

The one star is for the special effects. The script was
poor and the plot was not believable. The real story of
the Titanic was a huge tragedy, but this movie did such a
bad job of portraying the victim's feelings that I was not
able to feel their pain at all. It just all seemed so
FAKE. My other big complaint is that the movie was very
offensive. In addition to the (unnecessary) nudity, there
was a great deal of profanity, including much profaning of
the Lord's name. I guess all that was thrown in to get the
rating they wanted, but wouldn't even more people watch it
if it were more wholesome? What a disappointment; this
movie proves that you can't trust the hype or the box
office sales.

The film had great special effects that were unfortunately
masked by a nauseatingly cheesy love story. A good film for
an early to mid-adolescent sleep over party.

Titanic was so painful to watch that I found myself
pleading for the ship to sink at a faster pace. One hour
into Titanic I had completely forgotten about the iceberg.
I was suffering too much from the mediocre storyline and
acting. What was supposed to be a powerful movie honoring
those that lost their lives on the ill-fated ship had
quickly deteriorated to a three hour, sappy, generic love
story. All of the typical characters were manufactured on
the assembly line: the evil villain, the socially
imprisoned, liberal heroine, and the happy go lucky hero.
If the generic story and characters weren't enough tragedy
to heep on the audience, we had to languish through the
heroes' attempt to get off the boat. Hey guys, when the
boat is sinking don't spend 45 minutes going up and down
the boat's interior, it gets old. My advice for those
planning on watching: take a couple of aspirin 20 minutes
before watching and try to keep a pulse.

There are four areas where I have specific feelings
regarding TITANIC.
1. The first fifteen or so minutes were sick with 1990's
style garbage. Bad language that was just to get the
attention of deviates that would otherwise walk out of the
theatre and cause a panic of sorts.
2. The bare breast scene, while artistic and poignant,
should have made the movie an R. Movie ratings bracket
creep is killing the value of the system.
3. The movie dragged on way too long. I about feel asleep.
Of course I was tired when I walked in! I dozed off and
missed the bow scene. Shame on me....
4. Other than that, it was a great movie with tons of
nostalgia and romantic feeling.

I can't see buying it for $20, but may go see it again
on second release.

A real boat named "Titanic" did sink and thousands of lives
lost to the great deep. I didn't think this movie did
anything to honour those that lost their lives. The modern
story line and that same type of music (Sleeping Beauty,
Another World, etc.) is what entranced people into it and
nothin else. I have made several ocean voyages and really
didn't care to see this remake at all. A member of my
family insisted on renting it. The old black and white
version left enough of an impression. They totally missed
the part about the woman who woke up to find herself
floating in a deck chair amid the wreckage, and what
about the other survivors. The entire film focused on a
fictious? love story. The most touching part of the entire
film to me was when the father says to his young girls and
mother, "you and mummy are to go on ahead in this lifeboat
and I will follow you". That was something my own father
would have said and done, therefore, it was believable.

Ever write a story? It's really not a hard thing to do, you
just sit down and think up an alluring enough plot. James
Cameron, although obviously a talented director, didn't
seem to have too many problems thinking this one up. Rich
girl meets poor boy (who also happens to be played by the
hottest actor in hollywood), rich girl dumps handsome rich
guy for poor boy, big crash (have to add a little history
there), boy dies(typically dramatic). You have to be very
simple minded to accept this movie as the "greatest ever
made".
Visually, the sets, effects and costumes were excellent.
The acting proved to be just as enchanting, but the fact
still remains that Titanic is one of the most
intellectually patronisiong movies ever made. At no point
was there any hint of mystery, nor was there any attempt to
state anything other than the obvious. I am willing to bet
my life that it took James longer to think of writing a
movie about the played out ship wreck than it did for him
to write the actuall script. I paid to give away three and
a half unrecouperable precious hours of my life to play
psychic and guess every next scene. Do not get me wrong, I
can enjoy sitting and staring at Leo just as much as next
guy, but the next time I decide to drull over him I'll do
it with a pin up.
In conclusion, calm down all angered brain washed Titanic
fanatics, much like the movie I'm only stating the
opbvious.

The best actor in this movie should have been Billy Zane!! He is truly the scene stealer. The boat would have been my second choice. I too would have committed suicide on the face of an iceberg knowing the talentless Leonardo Dicraprio was on board. I had respect for James Cameron til he cheated on Linda Hamilton. James Horner saves the day with a nice score, and I realize that if there were no music in the movie, i wouldn't have felt so captivated. Because the acting couldn't survive on its own. Who wrote this dribble?? Oh yeah, James. I thank James though for one thing, giving me yet another reason to give up on the hope that something good will come out of Hollywood.
