Noises Off . . .

Parts are quite faithful to the original play. The
second act (with noises literally off as they mime to
stay quiet backstage) is hysterical.

This is not the ultimate movie version but it's good
work. I've only seen two live versions that were better.

I saw the live Broadway version in '85, and was pleasantly surprised by the movie. Where everything was too chaotic and immediate to truly enjoy in the theatre, the convenience of camera work really made the difference for me.
The selection of actors in the film version was excellent, and the only real flaw for me was some of Michael Caine's posturing as opposed to acting. If not for that, I would have given this hysterical film five stars.

I really love this movie, and am suprised by the horrib;e
review given here. I have shared this movie with many
friends, and all have given it a thumbs up sign. I think
the parts are played superbly by these marvelous actors.

I think the film is fantastic, it never loses pace and is
constantly full of energy. The characters are so
stereotypical to the extent that they are hilarious. It is
good to see actors of this calibre being given a chance to
perform some truly excellent farce.

Noises off is my absolute favorite movie and I was shocked
that it was given such a harsh review. I've seen it several
times, but, like many others who love it so much, I cannot
find a copy of it anywhere. It is a shame that true comedy
is not appreciated anymore!

I, too am disappointed with the review this movie was
given. Anyone who has ever done live theatre should be
required to watch this movie, as they will be able to
associate each player with someone they know. I am also
trying to find a copy to send to a friend...

Those who rate the movie version of "Noises Off" well have
obviously not seen a competent live-drama
performance. A good performance of "Noises Off" will have
the audience literally hurting with laughter. The movie
just doesn't measure up. Of course, Michael Caine was good
(as always), but the other actors failed to impress
me at all.

Noises off is brilliant farce no matter what. The original
script is so strong that just about anybody can get a hold
of it and do a semi-decent job. Which is why it is such a
popular play for amateur theatre to perform. As for the
movie, well it rates not only for its accurate portrayal of
the original, but for its stellar cast.
