This movie is fabulous. If you are feeling down in the
dumps, I seriously recommend going to your local video store
and checking out this fun-filled masterpiece. When you first
see Pippi (Tami Erin) swinging her sword aboard her father's
ship you'll be hooked. Another element which I found
extremely satisfying were the songs by Misha Segal and
Harriet Schock. "We Live on the Seas", "Pippi Longstocking
is Coming into Your Town" and "Running Away" are brilliant.
Although this movie is set in the late 40s, it always
reminds me of the 1980s mainly because it embodies the
sentiments and feelings of those times. Throwing ice cream
to orphans on the city streets of Rocksby recalls my own
childhood. Running away and camping in the woods induce
pleasant memories also. One is forced to recall Wordsworth's
quote about the child being father to the man. Pippi, as the
center of attention in this film, makes the ideas of Annika
and Tommy's dad seem very conservative and stuck up. I
recently told my sister that it would be interesting to
recast this film with different adult actors. Imagine:
Robert De Niro as Tommy and Annika's dad. If you've ever
seen "This Boy's Life" (where De Niro dresses up in a
boyscout uniform which he's obviously too fond of you'll see
the humor). All in all, this is a great movie which I highly
recommend seeing.

I remember seeing this insult to the source matiriel
several years ago, and gee whiz, was it ever boring! It's
practically got "made for TV and/or video" written all over
it. Astrid Lindgren would surely be spinning in her grave
if she knew that her beloved character had been given such
poor treatment. The sole merit this listless movie has is
that it can cause children to doze off. So if you
really must show this movie to your kids, make sure you
provide them with a luxury mattress, it's gonna be a
loooong night.

Ever since I was a kid, I use to love this movie. Although
I haven't seen it in about 4 years, I still remember
wishing I would be like her and look like her. I use to do
my hair with coat hangers and put dots on my face to
represnt freckles. This movie always made me want to get
up and be something great. I sang the songs, baught the
costume, and did the play. It was a fun child hood w/
Pippi and the gang. It was the only thing my younger
sister and I had in common. That and pizza.

I really think this movie is an enjoyable adventure for
children and adults. I do admit that it needs to be up to
date. Maybe a remake of the film would be nice.
I babysit for a living and the children watch this film
over and over, boys and girls. It helps their imagination
at play. I believe this film helps children see why they
should need to go to school and learn. And maybe, just
maybe these children might grow up to be a famous inventer
themselves.
I do believe that children should enjoy childhood while
they are young, because children are our future.

I think this movie (next to Annie) is one of the most
colorful and just plain fun films I've ever seen. I went
to high school with the girl who played Pippi and
unfortunately she wasn't half as charming in person.
Nonetheless, I cannot help adoring the film. I'm 24 and I
still watch it from time to time (last week)...and I love
the books.

I think this is a great movie for kid to watch. If the
movie was made for children, the parents shouldn't put
themselves through "torture" by watching this "too dumb and
silly" movie. The plot is great and the characters are
unforgettable. This is a great movie based on a wonderful
series of books that are considered classics. As for food
fights go, yes, this movie has many, who cares who cleans
them up? That's beside the point, this movie is about being
childish and having FUN!

In reviewing any film, the reaction needs to come from the
audience for which it was intended. In the case of the
American version of "Pippi", the script was directed to the
imagination and fantasy of young children and those adults
who are not too jaded to remember their inner child.

When I went to the movie theatre to watch this movie, I
was particularly impressed by the children's reaction to it.
While the children were waiting for the movie to start,
they were as "antsy" and boisterous as young children are
meant to be...however, as soon as "Pippi" started, they
quietly settled into their seats, forgot about their
popcorn and candy and didn't even seem to find the time to
go the the bathroom, etc.

On behalf of the children who have not been queried on the
merit of the American version, I give it a BIG thumbs
up..."5" stars for Pippi...Hip-Hip-Hooray, Hip-Hip-Hooray,
Hip-Hip-Hooray !!!

the actors in the movies because one of my brothers has
cancer and I want him too meet one of the actors before he
dies because he loves this movie. That was what I wanted
for Christmas soo please write back to me as soon as

I absolutely love the movie! I loved the movie when I was
little, and I still do! I am 19 now, and I still watch it
often. The actors and actresses in it are incredible! It
looks like it would be a really fun movie to make. Does
anyone know what songs are on the soundtrack, and who sings
them? If anyone knows, please e-mail them to me! =D

I'm not going to write as much as everyone else on here,
but I have to say that I absolutely LOVE this movie! I
read a few of the reviews of it on here, and it's so funny
to read that many of you have loved since you were a child
too. I'm 21...soon to be 22, and I still watch it every
so often! The school one of my older sisters works at had
it in their movie library and was about to throw it out,
but my sister happened to notice it. That Christmas, I
got it in my stocking from her! I haven't been that
excited in a long time because I hadn't seen it in
YEARS!! Whenever I watch it, it's almost as though it
takes me back to my childhood in some way. I used to
pretend I was Pippi with the kids my mom babysat as a
child. I can't say enough about it! Does anyone know
whatever happened to Tami Erin (who portrayed Pippi) or
Tommy and Annikah?? Well, looks like I wrote about as
much as ya'll anyways! God bless!
Amy | 11:28 a.m. Oct. 28, 2005
Tami Erin still does low budget key movies like 3 stars and
mostly commercials ect . In 2001-05 Also took a few
modelling photos . But have not seen her in any big top
like Johnney Depp you know the big star type movies she
doing the normal low key movies . I haven't seen her in big
movies yet !

I'm a big fan of Pippi Longstockings but i'm in a bit of a
rut at the moment. Years ago I had the movie, it wasn't
the cartoon version, it was the actual movie. I leant it
to someome and they have since lost it. I have looked
every where and I can't seem to be able to find another
copy. Can anyone help me locate a copy of this movie.
Thank you.

& more I rate this film. I haven't seen the original where
she's ship wrecked and goes a shore and meets those kids.
I don't know where I can get that movie everywhere I go
they don't have it. Please if someone can tell me where to
buy it I'd be really grateful!
