I just wanted to say, I agreed with you almost totally in your review of
"National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." However, you said that it might
not hold up to repeat viewings. I know that at least four friends, most
of my family, and I see the film during Christmas in July specials
and around 5 to 6 times each Christmas. One of my friends videos wore out
and he had to buy a new one. I thought this movie was hilarious, and
every actor, regardless of the size of their part, did a fantastic job.
In my opinion, this movie has become a holiday classic, right up
there with "It's Wonderful Life," "A Christmas Carol", etc.
Christmas Vacation is the best movie I have ever seen. It has become a
holiday classic in my house. Everyone in my family can repeat it word for
word. It is one of those movies you can watch over and over again and
never get sick of. It has definately become a timeless classic in my
book! There is no other movie that hilarious and well done!
I agree that this is undoubtedly the funniest movie ever made. Randy Quaid
is a genius. I have probably watched this movie fifty times and there's
always something new to emerge from the endless layers of comedic
mastery. Bravo to all the actors, and bravo to my fellow NLCV fans!
This is a classic. Our family watches Christmas Vacation every year, and
still find ourselves quoting it year- round. Anyone who has not seen it
has not lived.
Definitely a must-see during the holiday season. My family watches it every
year (multiple times a year in fact). Chase plays the same character he always
does, but this might be his best turn at said character. It has just the right
amount of witty one-liners, goofy slapstick, and holiday cheer. Sure, it goes
overboard in the "everything that can go wrong, will go wrong" department, but
the cast/script never lets it become unwatchable like many other Christmas
disaster movies. I love when Clark continually insults Eddie without him
realizing it, and I love Eddie's black dickie, and I love the ball of lights,
and I love the angry rant near the end. I love this movie. It is truly the
apex of anti-traditional Christmas movies. For every "It's a Wonderful Life"
you need to have a "Christmas Vacation".

I'm glad to see we are not the only nutcases who love this
film we had to buy another copy because we wore the first
out.
