I thought this film was resally good. I had to watch
somthing which was medieval for a school assighnment, the
only thing I came across was Shakespear's Henry V. So I
went home and watched it. I saw it twice because the first
time I had trouble understanding the language, the second
time I caught onto the drift of it all.
There were two characters that I paricually like, they
were: Princess Kathryn (Emma Thompson), and the Hostess
(Judy Dench).
I liked the way Emma did a really excellent job with the
French speaking. She spoke th language fluently, and with
confidence. French is a hard language to learn. I also
noticed that the French King and the other men, had strong
English accents and they didn't convice me that they were
French.
Judy Dench played the part of a peasant, it way have been a
small role. But to my eye her character was very refined
and she stood out. She was wonderfull.
I thought I had to state those things, or else no one else
would have. Because they really stood out.
Generally the film was excellent and the best scene was the
battle between them.
Being a devout student of Shakespeare and his art, I can
safely appeal that Branagh's "Hank 5" is the most
successful
of the Bard's films to date. Even Olivier's brilliant
"Hamlet" and "Dick 3" fail to encompass audiences with as
much success. I have portrayed several Shakespearian roles
for the stage, including Claudius (Hamlet), Iago, Phillip
the Bastard (King John), and Prince/King Harry (Henry IV i,
ii, and Hank 5), and I have taken more from Branagh with
me,
onto the stage, than I have from any other great
performer.
And "Hank 5" is his magnum opus.
Bravo Branagh!!! Simply magnificent!!!
