Even Cowgirls Get the Blues

the book I can say that Van Sant made a pretty good stab at
a legendary writer's work. Uma Thurman, Bonanza Jellybean,
and the countess are all great, but this film just doesn't
hit the mark as much as it should have. I compare this
film to "My Own Private Idaho"-a film that had some rather
sublime moments, but was dragged down by slower parts of
the movie; definetly an interesting watch.
taken in the right mood. If someone is expecting a serious
movie, they will miss their mark. Each character plays
their own part, I believe, with the comedy the movie
entails. I watched this movie several times when I rented
it, and am upset I cannot find it for sale in stores like
Best Buy...when I think of comedy, this movie runs first on
my list. The insanity of the script is the best part of it.

Van Sant must have been going through a very bad period
when he decided to make this movie because he is in general
an exelent screenplay writer and director. The acting in
this movie is in most cases extremly bad the amatures seem
to be better than the more experienced actors with Keanu
Reeves and Sean Young giving probably the worst
performances of their careers. I only advise you to watch
this movie if you are up for a laugh because this is not
the sort of film you can take seriously. I have this movie
on tape because i am a Van Sant fan but it is definatly not
one of my favorites.
