When we put so much emphasis on the importance of doing "just the right thing" to raise "righteous daughters and granddaughters," we inadvertently send a message to children that their parents are to blame for how they turn out. That is obviously a wrong message. Children should be taught from the moment they can understand words that they are responsible for how they turn out. They own their own lives and must take responsibility for it, NOT blame their decisions on their parents or grandparents.
