people should be allowed to carry guns to protect themselves from wildlife and other dangerous things.

Some predators walk on four legs some on two. Either way we should be able to protect our selves if needed in a national park as well as our own homes.

If a person legally owns a gun and has taken the time to legally get a permit to carry then the assumption should be that he is a law abiding citizen and should be allowed to carry that weapon as his permit specifies. My family camps out in the mountains a lot and there have been more than a few times when situations arose where having a weapon for self defense would have helped a LOT. I am not talking about OK Corral gunfights; I am talking about close brushes with wildlife that threatened my wife and children.
