With the whole "Hero" dispute, why is everyone getting mad at David for him not being a hero? He may or may not be a hero, but he never called himself a hero. Wasn't it actually the editor, who wrote this article, that thinks David is a hero? So why are you getting all mad at David?

When we are facing an election with a choice between two socialists and a rino. gas & food prices going through the roof, a war, house foreclosures, bankruptcies and the flds, we can use some bright news like this. It's the Shirley Temple effect. She came along during the depression to cheer people. Same with Archuleta. American Idol wants a big show when they go to their home towns....makes for a good show. Sounds like Utah is going to do it right.

David Archuleta is a hero in every sense of the word..some skeptics in here might think that fire fighters and soldiers are heros. But firefighters rescue people from burning buildings and prevent casualties..this kid on the other hand, magically through his voice, lifts people from their pain and misery and gives them hope and happiness and comfort! If this is not heroism..I do not know what is!!!! And let me tell you, no other Idol contestant has Ever expressed his/her desire to "sing songs with a message"..I really feel that as far as Music is concerned the good old days have almost gone forever what with all the rap and hip hop and trashy pop princesses emerging on the scene..Now, with people like Archie, emerging on the music scene the good old days (consisting of good music..beautiful lyrics set to make people happy and inspired)are being revived! Archie, you are like a breath of fresh air, God bless you!

The problem here is not about who's definition of hero is correct, or the perception that this man might be giving to the state. The problem here is the media using a television show with fair long-term success to create news for a minority, and ignore more important events or circumstances that affect the majority.

These types of red herring stories are used for either masking a troubling set of circumstances that could hurt careers of the influencial, or a sign that some media outlets are no longer capable of reporting hard news and lost the public's trust.

Yes, this man can sing. However, it is not reasonable for media to define him as a hero for the majority since ratings for American Idol are not very high. Fame is not heroic.

Also, fame that does inspire hope is disturbing in that people should had inspired themselves to greater things, not waited for someone with a good singing voice to influence their moral and ethical principles - it's not normal.
