As if legitimate Native peoples didn't already have enough hardship to face in striving for equality in quality of living, self-governance, etc. there are opportunist fakes out there illegitimating our authenticity in the eyes of the mainstream. These people should be ashamed of themselves. I am proud to be Native but it's not easy. And these people make it seem glamorous to be Native by trying to lie for the status. Many in Indian Country will tell you that that is not the case.

The judge in this case sounds a bit idiotic as if he doesn't fully know what a "federally recognized" tribe is, yet only to go further down a road and call it a "sham" is egregious.
"Fake" tribes are a disgrace to the Native Race and should be punished to full extent of the law. Especially if a White Man is involved as did with the other false tribe calling itself the Pimbell Little Shell Nation or something....
