Lying Utah Fans | 11:26 a.m. May 3, 2008
What happen to the truth in Utah? One kid wrote a lie about what Kobe said. He twisted it around so you can pat him on the back. Other kids are still on Fisher even though they got the story wrong. Fishers daughter is seeing Dc. in LA, not NY. And the beat go's on. Are there any honost basketball fans there that appreciated good baskerball? Utah is getting a rep. around the lequae as the town who's fans don't know basketball and are downright evil. And,MJ did the same thing Kobe did.

If the jazz play intense defense and attack the hoop, they have a shot. Gasol nor Odom are bigtime interior defenders. If Boozer ever looks like he did in last years playoffs against Houston, the Jazz can beat anyone. Booz and Andre are the two keys, but 75% of the time they look disinterested and pathetic. If they step up well can beat LA, but Im thinking theyll do a no show and well watch Kobe shoot freethrows and Gasol will get wide open dunks and shoot 80% like Oberto did last year. Hopefully the Jazz learned intesity in this series with Houston and come out strong and physical on both ends, but more so on offense. The jumper kills us.
Jazz fan in Philly | 11:44 a.m. May 3, 2008
I'm a huge Jazz fan and have been since I lived in the state 27 years ago. I'm optimistic about the 2nd round. However, chances are that the officials will not call the game fairly. I'm not whining; it's all understandable, as the NBA is a business and they are out to make money. I predict Lakers in 6, with three MVPs in striped white shirts.

HEY! Why are we talking like this???.... Lakers are beatable! No, the are not "Gods"! They never have been or EVER will be.
It will be a hard fought battle (as is every game), but we can pull it off. Kobe is a great player, I will give him that, but his attitude sucks and he is flat out ignorant. Players like him and T-Mac will never be compaired to MJ, who actually showed class. Thats why he (MJ) is the greatest of all time, not because he ran around the court fist pumping his chest like a gorilla.
DOWN DOWN DOWN LAKERS GOIN' DOWN.... DOWN DOWN DOWN LAKERS GOIN' DOWN!
believer | 12:04 p.m. May 3, 2008
T-mac - yeah, maybe deron was feeding off the crowd a little bit.

But more than that, he was feeding off HIS TALENT, HIS TEAM, and the opponents arrogance.

No shortage of that, anytime soon.

Go Dare-on, go Jazz!

A fan | 12:16 p.m. May 3, 2008
Tracy McGrady showed last night why he is a "me" guy and not a team player. During an in-game pre-taped piece on ESPN, his drive to win this series wasn't to advance his team to the second round for the first time, but he said he wanted to win because he hates Jazz fans and he did use the word hate.
re:original jazz fan | 12:21 p.m. May 3, 2008
hate to break it to ya, but the jazz don't need pao and kobe out to win, they play a little tougher ball than the baby soft nugs, and that can really get into pao's head. Kobe will get his 40 (with 20 from the line) but we can shut down everyone else, go jazz.
LA fan | 12:24 p.m. May 3, 2008
To Dick of the NW

We LA fans feel so insecure, LA swept the nuggets, finished first in the west, kobe is the MVP, bench takes care of business. Utah fans you are in for a dissapointment although I know deep inside you guys know what will hapeen, LA sweep that's for sure.

LAKERS rule
Laker Hater | 12:42 p.m. May 3, 2008
Nice Job Guys on Finishing off the rockets in 6. especially deron good game, they played like a team just as i suspected. the jazz will keep some momentum and go to LA. I just hope they dont lose some of it, and i also hope they play like a team. if they do those things they put there selves in a position to win. they need at least to steal one in LA. GO Jazz Beat KOBE AND HIS OVERATED LAKERS (EXCEPT FISHER)

GO JAZZ.

I predict deron will have a another good game just like he did on friday.
Re: Jazz fan in Philly | 12:50 p.m. May 3, 2008
You hit on my fear exactly. I've watched enough Jazz playoff games in my life to know that the officials do not want us to win. The Jazz basically need to aim to win each of these Laker games by at least ten or else the bad officiating will screw us over. We all know that every time Kobe holds the ball and shakes his shoulders a foul is going to be called, so we've got to be extra cautious about our intense defense outside the key.
magnus | 12:50 p.m. May 3, 2008
I am totally pulling a Bogut and high fiving myself for calling the game last night, I'm just sad that I undercut the Jazz margin of victory by 6 points, I wasn't expecting Alson to go down.

I think this series is going to be awesome. I think the Lakers are playing so well right now but I think they looked a little better than they actually are playing against the Nuggets (that team is a mess).

The Lakers are more consistent than the Jazz, they are not going to just phone in games (like game 5 in Houston). I think we can expect the Jazz to give one game away in this series.

These two team match up very well against each other. The Lakers big advantage is Kobe, the Jazz big advantage is Williams.

I think the wild card in this series is the 3 spot. Walton had a great series against the Nuggets but (this has been said before by others on this board) when AK is active on the defensive end and he scores 10+ points while shooting a high percentage from the field the Jazz are nearly unbeatable.

Jazz win in 7.
kay | 12:54 p.m. May 3, 2008
thats the Jazz that we know! they played a great game and hope they can take that energy with them to LA and i believe Jazz can beat LA in, in LA so bring it home babe and way to go Jazz

go Jazz bring on the title
Lakers fan | 12:59 p.m. May 3, 2008
Pau has been consistent since the trade, just because it's Utah doesn't mean he can be stopped keep dreamming, Lakers will take it in five.
KOBE MVB-IAAAAAATCH | 1:17 p.m. May 3, 2008
The League has been riding his jock so long. They need another Michael, and have propped him up as MVP.

Phil doesn't even watch the games anymore, he just shows up for a beer and a hotdog.

Jazz in 6.

Hey, all you KOBE fans wear your KOBE jerseys to the ESA so you can find each other after the game and talk about why the Lakers didn't need Shaq.

Theeth off! | 1:37 p.m. May 3, 2008
I'm looking forward a JAZZ D, that take some teeth off some Laker players, i would like that D coming from BOOZER and OKUR.
If that happens i say jazz in 6, otherwise LAKERS in 4...
mistaken | 2:15 p.m. May 3, 2008
whichever thug a$$ laker fan on here is calling for a laker sweep - good luck with that one. The Jazz are a fierce team and a lot better than everyone else in the nba thinks. please keep thinking that it will be a laker sweep. please do....

BJ Jazzy Rasta - Jazz in 6... | 2:30 p.m. May 3, 2008
D-Will is going to be a superstar, yet Boozer is our only all-star? Well, great win against "T-Maybe one day". Hopefully the Jazz will have enough gas in the tank to win one of two in LA. Everything depends on which team shows up to play. Unfortunately, the Jazz are bi-polar and very hard to predict. Keep it simple...win one of two on the road and protect your home court.

BJ Jazzy prediction: Game 1 - Win. Game 2 - Loss. Game 3 - Win. Game 4 - Win. Game 5 - Loss. Game 6 - Win. JAZZ IN SIX!

The key will be Andre Kirilenko. If AK can average 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists, 2 steals...Jazz will win the series. This is the statistic that I'm going to be watching. Also key is to shoot 75% as a team from the charity stripe. Last key stat is 40% 3-point shooting as a team.

Keys to victory over LAKERS:

1. AK47 must average: 8,5,3,3,2

2. 75% Free Throw shooting as a team

3. 40% 3-Point shooting as a team

GO JAZZ!!!!!!!

jtm | 2:32 p.m. May 3, 2008
The Jazz are a nice team but the fans are idiots. That being said get ready LA for excuses like bad refs, Kobe get's calls the Jazz are a young team. On and on. Oh well enjoy it while you can it will be over soon.
Oregon Fan | 2:49 p.m. May 3, 2008
Do any of you remember when the "Jazz and Lakers" met in the first round of the play-offs ? Do you remember, "shaque" being interviewed by some announcer concerning playing the "Jazz" in the first round? O"neil said that the JAZZ was just another bump in the road....remember how big that bump turned out to be? he had mistaken that bump

for a giant sized broom. sweeeepooooo!
Jimmy's Sneakers | 2:59 p.m. May 3, 2008
Jimmy thinks Kobe is a dreamboat. Jimmy thinks Lakers will sweep 4-0. I thinks Jimmy is gay.
RE: Dick of the NW | 3:05 p.m. May 3, 2008
You gotta use MJ as an example to put Kobe down, then he's in good company. Sorry you couldn't find a Jazz player since that is who the Lakers are playing. Good luck against Jerry West oh I forgot he retired 20 years ago, but at least he once played for the Lakers!.
lol jazz | 3:21 p.m. May 3, 2008
you guys better be worried vs the lakers. 3-1 vs the jazz this season. and 3 of those wins were with out pau gasol
Lakerhater | 3:59 p.m. May 3, 2008
Won't be a big homecourt advantage for the Jazz. There will be a big number of Laker fans in the ESA...they come out of the woodwork when LA comes to town. Jazz need to win one of the first two in LA and then GAME ON!
RE: lol jazz | 4:21 p.m. May 3, 2008
This is the playoffs, my friend. How many games did Boston take over Atlanta this season? All three by an average margin of 14 points. But that doesn't mean a thing now. Let's just enjoy the playoffs.
Jazzsmack | 5:31 p.m. May 3, 2008
The only teams that have won championships are teams that had a 1st team nba player or a 1st team defensive player the previous year.

(google Bluprint for Building an NBA championship team}

2007 1st nba team: Steve Nash, Amare Stoudemire, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki

2007 1st team defense: Bruce Bowen, Tim Duncan, Marcus Camby, Kobe Bryant, Raja Bell

Since dallas, suns, nuggets (like nuggets ever had a chance), are out

That leaves the lakers or San Antonio who will win the NBA championship.

Sorry jazz fans but dreaming it won't make so. But getting a first team nba'er will.

And building around a high scoring power forward almost never works unless the are a great great basketball player like duncan (though technically he is a f/c) or elvin hayes or bob petitt

and those players come along about once every 25 years, if that.

Those who are only a great power forwards, like malone, it has never happened.

The real key is great defensive bigmen sourrounded by shooters and scorers, that seems to never fail.

maybe somdeay, probably after sloan is gone, the jazz will realize malones and boozers don't win championships, but the right team will.
Jtm | 8:23 p.m. May 3, 2008
Would Jazz fans stop holding up signs on national tv saying they want to marry one or all of the Jazz players. I even saw one that said marry my daughter. It might work in other towns but it's smacks of FLDS here!.
magnus | 8:31 p.m. May 3, 2008
@ Jazzsmack

you know the funny thing about saying something is never going to happen, it almost always does eventually.

If the Jazz win a championship this year they would be the youngest team to do so in the last 30 years.

You're right of course, winning the championship is a long shot this year, but I don't understand why you spend all your time talking bad about a team that you clearly do not enjoy watching, and clearly have no respect for.

Seems like kind of a depressing state of affairs to me.

Why don't you just come out and admit you are a Spurs fan and end the charade.
Anonymous | 9:02 p.m. May 3, 2008
The Lakers aren't going to beat the Jazz because of the refs. So please stop whining about that. The Jazz get away with more underhanded tactics than I care to count. The Lakers are going to beat the Jazz because the Jazz have nobody who can stop Kobe Bryant. If you all think Brewer is the answer...you are sadly mistaken.
Queston? | 9:14 p.m. May 3, 2008
What is the meaning of RULE? I see it used to express feelings and I can't relate to what the real meaning is. Is this just a NOW GENERATION slang for someone or something being superior? Is it drug related? How ridiculous that one word is used to relate to people being superior. Does it go with wearing baggey pants?
faraway fan | 9:20 p.m. May 3, 2008
to clear cut...or is that sour grapes? Look and the film again dude...Alston jumped then tried to avoid landing on his own guy and instead came down on an immobile Andrei...but hey...if that's what it takes to make you feel better you go ahead and hang on to that.

The Jazz are obviously a more difficult matchup for the Lakers than the Nuggets were but don't get it twisted, the Lakers are far more difficult than the Rockets. The Lakers are a very deep team. They are long, and they are crafty. And unlike Utah, the Lakers have a player with a killer instinct, and that would be the MVP, Mr. Bryant. Kobe, by himself, could send the Jazz packing into the offseason, but now he has help. Whoo...good luck to you Jazz, you are gonna need it.
Jazzsmack | 11:05 p.m. May 3, 2008
I am disappointed in you magnus, I thought you would come up with something more intelligent than "you don't like the jazz, go away" Most immature of you.

I have watched them from the day they moved here.

I want to see the jazz win a championship.

However, The jazz ownership, management, coaches, do not seem interested in winning a championship.

They have done nothing to get the best, which is what you need to win a championship.

They have not gone after any by trade or free agency, they have not put themselves in a position to draft one.

All they have done is whatever is good for business, what will sale t-shirts and tickets. And that is find a way to have winning record and to win a few playoff games. That is not hard, over half the teams every year make the playoffs.

All I want is for them to do what is necessary to win a championship.

Boozer and sloan will win you games but they will never win you championships.

The fact is I'm more of a true fan than you.
You hope a championship will happen.
I want see them make it happen.
magnus | 11:55 a.m. May 4, 2008
Once again you either do not understand the actual definition and meaning of the word "fan" or you choose to ignore and try to redefine it.

from Websters
FAN(N): short for FANATIC. Meaning a person motivated by irrational ENTHUSIASM.

What I hear from you is that you have watched the Jazz for years and never once been able to get exited about them. You've never once thought to yourself "you know, I'm exited about this team, I think we really might have a chance"

I'm a very logical person and I like numbers and indicators of success as much as anybody, but your "the glass is not only half empty but I'm pretty sure it never had anything in it at all" attitude, combined with the fact that you insist on calling youself "a true fan" when you clearly do not know what that means makes me grow tired of your sometimes good but always negative points.

I mean even Sloan Hater takes a break from his vitrol long enough to enjoy the Jazz success and spread a little optimism.

A better word to descrive what you are is an ACTIVIST. YOU ARE A TRUE JAZZ ACTIVIST.
Re;Maganus | 6:12 p.m. May 4, 2008
From the Mirriam-Webster Online Dictionary:

Main Entry: 3fan
Function: noun
Etymology: probably short for fanatic
Date: 1682
1 : an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator
2 : an ardent admirer or enthusiast (as of a celebrity or a pursuit)

I guess you don't have to be irrational.
magnus | 8:15 p.m. May 4, 2008
You'll notice I wasn't emphasisizing the irrational, I was emphasizing ENTHUSIASM, or from your definitions: ADMIRER, ENTHUSIAST, or ENTHUSIASTIC DEVOTEE

If every comment you post is negative, lacks enthusiasm, and shows now admiraation then by definition YOU ARE NOT A FAN!!!!

It's a pretty simple concept, going all political on it and trying to redifine it doesn't change the rarlity of what it is.

President Clinton did have "relations" with his intern,

Water-boarding is torture,

and fans always find a reason to get exited about their team.

Boozer! PLEASE STEP UP YOUR GAME! Dunk the basketball dont lay it in.....You need to compete! Have you ever heard of that word before...We need you to be aggressive...GO JAZZ!
